Before running rsd lite. Plug your phone into the PC while in fastboot and see if it asks you to update your drivers. Also did you download the XML file for your device?

Glad you got it fixed. Sorry I didn't help much. My data has been crappy today for some reason.

Having the same issue as OP... Can't download that intial update. Spoke with Moto...
that was a complete waste of time. Since I participated in the soak test the have me listed as a
rooted device and refuse to trouble shoot... Nice. Soooo... kind of need that update patch lol.

Haha that's fine. I found a site that had some instructions to try with the ics fastboot files, and that didn't work so i just deleted the lines with "getvar" in the jb fastboot file and held my breath lol

if flashing back to jb, follow the instructions below after dl'ing the jb files from the earlier post (keep in mind it's showing for an ics build, but this worked for me for flashing jb back to it)

##PROGRAM will still show that it's rooted, it's not, but at least it's back to stock jb and stable

I'm not worried with getting back to stock jb. That's easy, I would like to be rooted with jb. This again is another good argument why we need a jelly bean root.

I just wanted to say Im having the same issue so Im about to try something and let you guys know if it works.

Im fastbooting my phone *right now as I type* back to the original software. *Using Matts utility*

Im NOT going to root right off the bat, and boot into the phone, and attempt to get the software update with doing only a minimal setup, and connect to wifi right off the bat as well.

If the update succeeds Im going to root, Voodo temp unroot, then attempt to get the OTA JB update.

Wish me luck? =D

Until it's fixed, I went ahead and fast booted to jelly bean without wiping user data so I can retain wifi tethering. I hope a workaround is found soon
