It was never known as a "world phone," only a "global phone." Different meanings. However, if this was all so easy for you to figure out, I can assure you that anything they're doing has already been found by others before you. It's not illegal, or else they would have already been in hot water for it.

so what is the difference between world phone and global phone then, because as far as im concerned they are the same thing.

It's more lame-o marketing terms. World/Global...who cares? What they most certainly ARE SAYING is that the United States GSM networks are NOT included in the "World/Global GSM Networks". Yeah, lame, sure. Misleading, yep, no doubt. Shall we sue them? Sure? Class-action? Hell, why not? The fact is, even if it's wrong/illegal/who knows what...no one is honestly gonna punish VZW if NO ONE bothers to make the attempt to call them on the carpet. Are they wrong in calling their CDMA/GSM phones "Global"? Of freaking course they are! Leave the US and set your device to Global mode. It will most certainly work on ANY GSM network OUTSIDE of the USA. Come back into the US and try to connect to T-mo or AT&T or some other GSM network, will it work? NO FREAKIN' WAY!  Is this fair? Hell no! Is it legal? I'm not sure? Do they do it? Sh1t yeah they do! They GO OUT OF THEIR WAY to install preventions and safeguards into signed and encrypted partitions of your phones to stop you from connecting to domestic GSM networks! VZW's "so called" domestic competitors are not permitted to connect to your "Global" device. Sounds like a monopoly? Maybe? Who knows? But until someone who cares enough and can afford the legal representation to DO SOMETHING about it! They will continue to take advantage of their US customers as they ALWAYS have. Dont like it? Stop asking us or whomever to circumvent it and DO SOMETHING. Start a petition. Hire a class action law firm (they'd love to make MILLIONS on this. Hell, if the evidence is there, they'd probably do it with no money up front!) But with all due respect, sitting around waiting for devs and hackers to circumvent a practice that VZW is most likely doing illegally.. if not at least unethically (won't be the fist time) is a waste of time and effort. If this thing means ANYTHING to enough people, they will stop questioning  stop pondering, stop requesting, and start DOING. I don't use GSM, I personally don't care if ANYONE can use my CDMA/GSM "Global" device on T-mo, AT&T or any one of the other fly-by-night GSM networks, but if it means ENOUGH to you!?... Honestly, stop waiting for a loop-hole and FREAKING do something productive about it. That's how injustices like this ACTUALLY get solved. (Not trying to be harsh) Stop talking...Start Doing!

I'm all for chops breaking, I love it. I don't care. But in all honesty, when dealing with folks who may not be as informed or educated as you or I, it should be more important for you to summarize, comment, or dissent what I had to say in an attempt to both keep the topic on point AND to either support my arguments or counter them. Again, I love a ribbing, but I'm trying to get involved in an honest and educated conversation in this this thread and your educated input would be more helpful (to both me AND the OP) than just to bust on me. Like I said, I'm not sure you guys are recognizing me trying to make a serious comment to the OP about this subject. That's fine. I understand you guys are used to me just jerking around. But my post (if you all read it) is intended to be serious. And I would like both the OP and the other readers (who may not be privy to our style of comedy) to ALSO follow along with the severity of the situation which they have found themselves in pertaining to this subject. I'm all for jerking around, and I'm not the Debbie-downer type AT ALL, I think you guys know this by now, but if you did in fact read my response you will see that it was a serious one that I feel both the OP and the other readers should take to heart seriously. As what I've suggested may honestly be the ONLY way they can solve this device/oem wide pandemic.

As I read it seems that there was a question if someone has a hack for domestic GSM. I came across this hack because I phoned Verizon to ask

about this very same issue. I travel a lot and wanted this Motorola Verizon xt907 M to be unlocked so I can use it over seas. I had this done

to my Nokia N73 M and its worked fine ever since, both in the USA as well as overseas. Well I was told by Verizon that this phone is already

unlocked and that that was all they could say. I found the phone does work outside the USA but here its restricted by Verizon. Well I found a

hack whick I will post a link that seems to have been able to disable the little trick that Verizon has placed in this model at least which will

unrestrict the GSM and allow foreign sim cards to be used. My phone currently is working on GSM Under the Global setting, as well as under

the GSM / UMTS setting so as far as I can see it seems to have done the trick I was looking for. Here is the link and you'll have to explore this

for yourselves. Please remember that the tool that is used can really screw up your phone if you try to play with any other settings in the tool.

If you follow the instructions I think you will be successful.

So first this is the XT912 thread not the 907. Also if you read post 19 from BlameTucsTwo, he noted that it can be done on the 907.

Correct, there is a work around for using GSM in the us on the Razr M, but this original question was addressed to the Razr XT912 which as of today, only works on GSM outside of the US.

I found this video on YouTube the thing is that it's in spanish.... I have a RAZR Maxx HD and just did the Radio Com hack this afternoon and the method shown here is pretty similar to the maxx HD, at the end of the video the guy says he has a bad SIM card, I haven't tried it because I Dont know where the guy got his source and I Dont want to mess my OG Maxx... is anyone willing to be the guinea pig?

the xt926 works on US gsm using the radio edit as described in forums but for some reason the same way wont work on the xt912 it wont save it to the radio ......ive tried my xt926 can do it but i broke my screen on it now im having to use my xt912 but have the same problem.....im rooted using safe strap on 4.1.2 but cant get a rom to work it goes black after the M boot....i need help

I attempted the radiocomm NV edit on my XT912 to no avail. I haven't attempted the PagePlus flash though. Anyone have any luck?
