Call me a nostalgia-fag but I miss the good old days. Back when HIVE didn't exist, back when this was THE go-to place for all of my ROMs. It's not anymore.

My days here have been quite enjoyable indeed, though. I found this community a thriving one against all odds. However with the introduction of these 8347 new sections of devices (some of which that aren't even DROIDs), I can't help but feel betrayed. Imo the best part about this site is the fact that it's exactly what the title implies - DROID RAZR only. I was equally as worried when the MAXX was coming out because I felt like that would use a different SKU or something and require different ROMs and such, and make a mess. This site helped kick-start the RAZR development scene and also keep it going. As more devices get added, the giveaways become overloaded with new devices (as it stands right now with all of the new sections, 1/6 devices would be a RAZR, and we aren't exactly giving devices away weekly.), and the ideal of this site is starting to die out in favor of wider scope. I really hate it but at the same time I feel powerless in stopping it. These new sections/devices will never be as popular as the rest of the site, either, and just serve to take up space on the forums.

I've also noticed each day that even though the donation bar maxed out like a month ago, there hasn't been a giveaway thread to go with, either. I don't know what's going on anymore in terms of anything, but I can't say I like it. /:

+1 it does suck when a dev will discontinue support for a rom and move it somewhere else. I understand it is too difficult and time consuming to introduce a new rom on multiple sites and try to support them. I still like the droidrzr forum because I like running the gingerbread roms (artic,razrx and so on) You still can't beat the info on this forum for your razrs though.

I agree with you (TSON). I may be new to this site but i have been here for a while and when i joined this site was more energetic. We had developers dropping something new every other day. And this is supposed to be a forum for the Droid Razr only, now if you look at the forums we have 5+ more devices added which of some are not even Droids. Since that new site came out everyone moved there and this site is turning into like HIVE since we are adding more devices here. I think we should spend more time here and get droidrzr.com back in business.
P.S. Cory, where are you? You have been out for so long man. Did you move to HIVE also?

hey guys we are still here. Cory has life stuff going on .. Family will always come first as well as personal need.. thats why im not here much on weekends i spend time with my fiancee
i agree that this is a bold move.. but it might be for the best in the long run.. sure Droid Hive has a lot of hits.. but guess what we have a community here that is still pretty strong.. and will get stronger due to the support of more devices.. overall we will hvae more devs more views and more opinions and ideas.. I think an open mind is needed right now.. and i support this action..
I will always be a Droid Razr fan... more of a fan for the maxx but a fan non the less.
I might have a D4 coming sometime.. but hey cool i can stay in this community for that too..

Yes the bar has been maxed out and we are getting ready to start a kick ass giveaway. Not only for Devs but for the members. You guts have to understand with certain devs getting phones,screens, among other things, and abandoning DR it did slow things down. But we are processing some new ideas and it will benifit everyone. For instance kejar has gummy for the D4 coming out. Now he can post here. A lot of ppl have more then one phone. I have a razr, a maxx,rezound and xyboard. Just because we add more phones don't mean DR will change for the worse. It will change for the better and give more options and we will stay like a family.

I welcome the change.. who knows maybe a developer for a different device will also start developing for the RAZR too... not to mention we will hopefully acquire new members who can help contribute in this awesome community

It really doesn't seem right for a Droid Razr site, named after the phone itself, to be adding content for other phones. That's like a porn site that also has bible content, its completely unrelated and loses its appeal.

Why not create a sister forum for the Razr and all others? Unless you're going to change the name of this site and stray away from the exclusivity, which just so happened to be the appeal by the way.

we need devs. devs that will stick around and add to the total projects.. well if we can lure other devs for other devices here.. maybe we can all brainstorm and work together on roms and setups that can be ported to each device... we want to go beyond just the razr.. in 2 years after people start upgrading away from it, we want to still hold on to this community and the friends.. there for we will someday be building on to this site anyway... welcome in the change now doesnt mean its no longer abot your device.. we are still goign to be supporting this device strongly and you know that...

keeping an open mind and knowing that the community is still here is the important part.. we had the razr to pull us together. now lets branch out.. if it doesnt work then what harm have we really done.

If your standing still your getting left behind. So change is good. And as far as developers go, they have lives to live outside of developing for the users. One thing I will say is egos and personalities cause developers to move on or start there own site. At first this pissed me off then I realized hey whats it matter they are not obligated and neither am I. I recommend supporting those who you enjoy their work but don't put all your eggs in one basket as before you know it some variable will change a developer moves on or better yet you end up getting the next best thing in a phone. Thank you to all and remember Icrap is like the pretty girl in school nice to look at but boring, android is like the quite girl in school blends right in but blows your socks off once you get to know her.

You guys could always stick to the old idea of reaching out to the devs and trying to see who'd want a RAZR in order to get them to dev for us in return. IMO that was a way better system than diluting the giveaways with another 10 devices & giving us 10 more devices to scroll past, & simply hoping they'll decide to get a RAZR or something. I get exactly what you guys are trying to do but it'd just be a way better idea to stay exclusive and continue being the kick-ass jump-starter to get more devs on the RAZR and the RAZR only, UNTIL the RAZR hits EOL and people start upgrading from it. That's how we got Hash & Kejar & Gflam & soon to be many others. Adding more devices to the mix tbh will just make more people (probably non-devs, but still) leave for another site. A huge part of what made this site such a nice thriving community was its exclusivity, that's what I'm trying to get across. Not to mention the specific RAZR giveaways could be used to grab some important devs from other devices that have lots of skill, you know.

I know ultimately, DDX, that DroidRZR is your baby & you can do whatever you want with it but hear me out!

1+ ... I donated a few times to support giving out a Razr dev phone. But instead of seeing at least some dev work continue on existing Moto releases (such as additional mods and tweaks for .173), the main focus has become kanging partially working ICS ... and now having to wade through non-Razr threads, as well. I don't bother checking "View New Content" what with the growing number of threads that have nothing to do with a Razr. Now I've completely lost my motivation to donate for a dev phone, though I have made a few individual donations to those who are releasing Motorola Razr-specific mods. To me its sad to see droidrzr.com forfeiting its exclusive purpose. Nor do I think it will help in the long run.

All I know is the where I came from, the G1 and G2, there are still ROM's being pushed out for them. There is even some ICS ROMs for the G1. So, I really believe the Razr will live almost forever!!! Muahhhhh!!!
