Possibly.  I don't know anything about this particular utility as I didn't write it nor have I ever used it.  Basically it just needs to reboot into AP Fastboot mode and fastboot flash the CWM recovery.  Not sure what's causing the adb issue but the causes can be numerous.

ok, thanks

i just have one quick question about the code because its been a long time since i looked at this and it just doesnt look right compared to anything i have seen.

parts of the code read like this nuladb with no space between the nul and adb command. that has to be a problem, or am i wrong?

I am using V6, and no matter which option I choose, It just sits at connecting to phone. I can see it with ADB devices, and I can push items to it, for example. I am rooted, and bootloader unlocked on my XT926.

The problem is that it won't let me install twrp unless I'm rooted. This has me puzzled. I'm really not such a noob at this either.

Sure it will. Just not with any of the methods that require root. ;) two ways to do it. Manually with fastboot, or automated using a script, but again with fastboot. I wrote an unlocked root script that will flash recovery and then sideload root. It's in my house of moto forum. Or you can manually flash recovery like this:

fastboot flash recovery recoveryfilename.img

Obviously recoveryfilename should be changed to the filename for your custom recovery. The phone must be in ap fastboot mode and connected to a USB 2 port.

Oh one more thing. Once you flash it with fastboot, immediately disconnect from USB, power off, and boot to recovery. If you let the phone boot normally without booting to recovery first, the phone will restore stock recovery overwriting what you just flashed. This part is important and leads to a lot "it didn't work" posts.

First off, let me say thanks to everyone involved getting root and unlock for this device.  You all are amazing!

Now, for the problem.  I successfully rooted and unlocked using the towelroot & motopocalypse apks.  I flashed TWRP 2.7.1 using Flashify.  I thought that I was performing a factory reset in TWRP, but it seems that what I did was erase the OS.  I'm getting a message saying "No OS installed!  Are you sure you want to (power off/reboot)?"  What have I done???

Sounds like you wiped more than you wanted to do...you will need to re-flash and start over....

Flash Stock, then root, then flash TWRP. The before you do anything make a Backup of the Stock rooted rom, then after that you can flash a Custom ROM.

For that, you can use the default Wipe settings, then use Install to flash the ROM, then GApps, and SU if its not in the ROM already

Thanks for the quick response.  I'm not completely new to flashing, but it has been a few years and it was on a different device.  Where can I find the stock firmware?
