dropped mine in a bucket of salt water wile moving a fish tank. It was submerged less then three seconds. It would not power back on after pulling it out. I blew out with compressed air and let it sit in a bucket of rice for three days. No luck. Phone was shot.

You should never ever power up immediately after being in water.. It will short some circuits on outs main boards.

Also, do not use compressed air.. It might force water to go deeper into the phone.. Just soak it in a bucket of rice will do..

Yeah dropped my g2x in a tap-water toilet. Gave it 18 hrs to soak in rice and was fine. Good thing I was still on the approach.

No way I'm doing that to my Razr. It's gotta last for two years as I'm out of upgrades.

That's just because of the salt. Notice that every waterproof test is with fresh water. I've fully submerged mine in a pitcher of water with the phone on. Took it out, wiped it off, made a call.

I agree. This thread needs a video with someone dropping a phone in a bucket of water. If it's "water proof", then it shouldn't even turn off, right?

I've done and I'm sure others have as well. I used a tall glass, not a bucket though. The buttons were funky for an hour or so till it dried, but otherwise it was fine. That being said... I DO NOT RECOMMEND DOING THIS. IT WILL VOID YOUR WARRANTY.

Dropped mine in the lake and snatched it out quickly. It was fully submerged for about two seconds. I shook it off and popped it on my palm a few times to get the water out of the usb/hdmi and headphone ports. Right away it took off working like nothing happened. Freaked out nonetheless, I powered it down, ejected the sim and memory cards and let it spend the night in a bed of rice. After that it was on the charger with navigation and wifi tether running while playing a video to build as much heat in it as possible to get the rest of any remaining moisture out. It's been fine since, save for a bit of concrete rash on the lower bezel.
