With yesterday's rain Austin Powder held off on the next shot and instead drilled more holes just over the top. You may notice those charges go off a split second after the initial shot.

They've had large rocks alongside the edges of the road to the top as a safety thing, but now they're clearing them away to give the (impatient) drills more room to work later today.

Had some rain come through today so Austin Powder held off charging the holes above the rock wall, maybe tomorrow. A loader and dozer began working the material loosened by yesterdays shot...
And most of the brush/weeds near the entrance to the box tunnel are going up in smoke.

The shot on top today was 120 holes drilled down 30 feet. They knew if they went deeper they'd be getting into the part of the hill riddled with caves/voids and will wait till this rubble is cleared to better judge where and how deep to drill there next. Moved a *lot* of material with this one!

A sunny Sunday, so I took a drive around the site and took pics on my way out. First the retaining wall with lengths of re-bar that are cabled together for strength.
