I have a droid razr maxx and I've been trying to get back to my stock rom after I've been enjoying custom roms for a couple of months now. I use safestrap v3.1. I wanted to pull some information off it like texts, and also clean it up and free up space for more roms. I make sure I am in kernel .16, and have even tried .8, but it just goes into the boot loop and never loads. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Ok, so a couple of things to try: in SS, switch back to the Stock rom and then wipe cache and dalvik and try to boot up. If that doesnt work, then flash the correct "kernel" that you believe was on your Stock, so if stock was at .8 flash the .8 boot image or .16 if it was .16 and do the wipes again.

If that doesnt work to bring you back, then the only thing left would be to reflash JB either using Matts tool or RSD.

I just tried the wipes with no success. Would reflashing JB erase the current stock rom? Also do you know how this could have happened?

Do you have a Nandroid (Backup) in Restore?

If your coming from a Custom ROM back to Stock...

  • Hold Down the Power Key to boot into Safestrap...
  • Once you get to the Safestrap Screen...Hit
  • The Menu button...Now your into Safestrap...
  • Goto Boot Options
  • Click on Stock ROM...(Color is Navy if Not Active)
  • Click on it and Activate this Stock ROM
  • Once Activated...
  • Wipe Cache
  • Wipe Dalvick
  • Goto Reboot...Click on it
  • Than to System...Click on it...
  • Let her Rip my friend
  • Should see a RED Safestrap Screen...
  • Then a Beautiful Red Eye
  • Bingo your in Stock..

End of Story

You may be the victim of trying to restore a Nandroid that had root protected with Voodoo. If that's the case, you can have your stock ROM slot up and running in 5 minutes.

1. Restore your stock ROM backup to a spare ROM slot. I put mine in ROM slot 2.
2. Open Voodoo and click delete SU backup. If that option isn't available, click protect root, then click delete SU backup.
3 Backup ROM slot 2 in SafeStrap.
4 Restore your newly created backup to the stock slot.
5. Done.

Here's the rundown:
