The question is : what is the best rom for our phone? I mean...exist a better rom than arctic?

Only way to find out is to flash all of them then decide for yourself. We all like different aspects of the available roms. What's great for me may not be for you. I must say that I'm a fan of the aokp ports!

I liked abysm in. 748 but having the. 173 radio (better 3g reception )on eclipse plus working Bluetooth made me choose it. The mod script for. 173 is also nice but I want to be able to disable safestrap and ota without having to rsd back to stock. I really liked the Ics leak. If it weren't for the weird gremlin type annoying things that really don't affect usability I would've kept it.I didn't like RAZRx... no toggles I think

See now for me, the stock ICS leak has been the only ROM I've run longer than 7-10 days. I REALLY like it "stock". Go figure, lol.

Man I hate this question...

There is no such thing as the 'best' ROM. It is 100% personal preference. You should browse the ROM section and see which one suits you best.

Keep in mind though, you can only install ROMs that were built for the version of the Razr that you have. Since you are using Arctic I assume you have a GSM Razr, which really limits your choices.

My favorite ROM to date is Eclipse (CDMA). It is by FAR the most modified (from stock) ROM out there, and it's not just pasted scripts from other ROMs slapped together. Nitro has been developing Eclipse for years and it really shows; has it's own launcher, Eclipse settings, extremely fast and somehow amazing battery conservation as well. I probably won't be taking the OTA update to ICS until Nitro releases something for it.

:-D :-D

Completely agree with everything you said. There is no right answer to this question now and never will be. Its all about what you feel is right for you. I have run almost every ROM we have and each has their good points. I have actually been root stock for about 2 weeks now because I am just not sure what to go with right now lol.

I really enjoy the AOKP roms. They have AMAZING customization. My favorite was Black Widow ICS, but I got tired of the data drops and switching to GSM/GSM-CDMA with phone information over and over. It seems like every aokp build I try has that problem, 4g will work and then I reboot to find no data. Sometimes wifi wouldn't even work. So, for stability and some customization, I use Eclipse. Haven't lost 4G the entire time I had it. If there is an aokp rom out there with no data drops, it will probably be my permanent rom to use. I'm still searching for it.

If you are asking which ROM makes your phone fastest, I would go with arctic or eclipse. Both are extremely fast.

But for customization, I would go with AOKP. Definitely upgrade to .181 then flash AOKP Axi0m. It is on droidhive and is just awesome.

I loved razrx v1.2 173. It was smooth and bone stock. Just cleaned well. The 75,79 ics leaks were great. You need to run a rom for at least one week. I foind out in one week, you can really get a feel for what the rom is about. 211 ics has to many problems. When its fixes, it will be great. I cannot tweak roms like everyone can. I.e scripting or terminal. I will learn here. Be a good reading. Yes, one rom be sweet for my needs but not for yours. In all reality? .173 rom was the best gb ever. Smooth and had great 4g/3g, stability, battery life and tasted good. Thank you everyone for making roms.
I have not tried Hicks yet. Not sure if I want his Soldierness trying to take over my phone... joking bro. Or am I?....... The dunt da dun would sound right now.

I have Moto Razr....I will cut you.
To powerful to fall into my hands. Click......Rooted. ICS rommed!!!!! Muhahahahah!!!!

Hi all I'm a newbie.
Unfortunately I dropped for 1sec my Razr Maxx in a sink, in an instant turned it off, wiped it and left it for 48 hrs in a rice bowl. Then turned it on, works perfectly, no lags, but those 4 touch buttons at the bottom of the screen are unresponsive. They are lighted but dead, the worst part is I can't use backspace, the only way to get back to the desktop or close an application is to restart the phone. I rooted it, instaled safe strap 3.11, and now I need a ROM that have home and back buttons on the screen. I'm in EU with GSM, using ICS 4.0.4 system version 673.94.328.XT910.AsiaRetail.wn.03

Hi Lance

I have the exact same phone as you, even AsiaRetail matches.

After long and careless consideration I've done the following

- rooted the phone using the one-click method, worked great

- used SuperSU and OTA rootkeep to preserve root (probably not needed)

- installed safestrap 3.x

- used safestrap to make a backup of current system on SD

- used safestrap to install AOKP (worked nice with r5, good with latest release Milestone1)

- in AOKP you can enable those buttons as touch buttons at the bottom of the screen and use them instead of the soft-touch buttons.

Please read again and again all docs before performing each step, or even better, find your own steps to get to the custom ROM.

It worked great for me, but I am also quite new to this and might have messed something up.

Good luck and let us know how it went.

Radu
