the only problem I am having is my gallery keeps stopping. I cant access my gallery. tried rebooting but no luck

Hey EmericanX I think you saw my post earlier about how DT's mod works with deodex right? If you didn't then I just wanted to tell you that I am running on deodex and mod rite now with zero problems besides the gallery issue. (I replaced motgallery with gallery2) Anyways I will post screenshots if needed. Just wanted to let you know that because many, like me, flashed DT's mod then made a backup so they can't return to stock. Thanks a lot btw this is great!

I decompiled systemui last night just to check... recompiled and running as we speak. so i'm not sure what the issue is youre having..Edit: are you using the proper apktool for ICS?

Sorry for the noob question, but why would you need a specific deodexer and apk tool for ICS? Why wouldn't the tools for Gingerbread work?

There are differences in ICS that will cause apktool to error out. I can upload the apktool I have later for those that need it. I have not touched framework-res as of yet so im not sure if itll work there. There was a trick i saw somewhere about needing to use one version of apktool to decompile framework and a second version to recompile. Maybe someone thats themed ICS could shed some light as far as that goes.As far as the deodexing goes.. it is system specific. They all work the same but they are relying on a specific bootclasspath per a system build. Not to mention some have extra dependencies that have to be accounted for. Alot of the ICS leak for reference had to be deodexed one file at a time to add the additional dependencies.

the apktools all have different versions...much like anything else.
So as something progresses the new software needs to account for these new changes.


Most if not all the themers on this site have already upgraded to the newer apktool....thanks to 24V!
And so far is backwards compatible.

Power Amp and Folder Editor FC on startup and won't run. What I've noticed so far.

Use 1.4.2 to decompile ICS framework and 1.4.3 to compile it.

So far it looks with the Gallery has some FC's (no big deal, I use Quickpic).

Are there any other issues found, so far?

I would love some feedback as well! The only thing I've personally noticed was gallery. The gallery works for camera pics... just not for social sync.

thats due to the current mod's out there being on a odexed framework. I've got a 10% round battery ready. It's actually got the images and xml's for 1% - but i've got some work to do on the smali's...

Wow, this is weird. I had to RSD back to stock .173 because I went overboard on removing bloat, lol, and I followed everything normally yet this time MyGallery isn't FC any more. I even went into the app and checked a few pics I have on sdcard-ext. No problems.

My gallery isnt FC'ing either... SDcard images load just fine... just will not load online images. I made a note to why in the OP.

Since you are replacing moto blur apps with AOSP apps, how about replacing our email with AOSP email

This is how I modify APK's and it works every time for me. Don't forget to sign your APK's when needed.

You only need four files to do this. Not everything that comes with APKMultiTool etc.

a. aapt.exe from the SDK
b. apktool.bat
c. apktool.jar.1.4.2
d. apktool.jar.1.4.3

You will need to pull the framework-res.apk from your phone to your directory.

a. open a command window in the directory you extracted the zip to.
b. type adb pull /system/framework/framework-res.apk

Rename apktool.jar.1.4.2 to apktool.jar

Install the framework.

a. java -jar apktool.jar if framework-res.apk

Decompile framework-res with apktool and apktool.jar (1.4.2)

a. java -jar apktool.jar d framework-res.apk

To recompile the framework you need to change to apktool.jar.1.4.3

Rename apktool.jar to apktool.1.4.2

Rename apktool.jar.1.4.3 to apktool.jar

Recompile the framework.

a. java -jar apktool.jar b framework-res

The *UNSIGNED* framework can be found in ./framework-res/dist/framework-res.apk

If you get "plurals" errors when compiling it means you used the wrong version of apktool.jar

framework-res.apk is the only APK you need to do this for. Everything else can be decompiled and compiled with apktool.jar.1.4.3

Here are the 4 files.
