<p>In case you are not familiar, Google Drive is Google's version of Dropbox. It gives you 5 gigs of free space (but you can upgrade to 25 gigs for less than $2.50 a month).

From the Play Store:

Keep everything. Share anything.
*** Google Docs is now a part of Google Drive! ***
* Keep everything. Share anything.
* With Google Drive, you can store all your files in one place, so you can access them from anywhere and share them with others
* Use the Google Drive Android app to access your photos, documents, videos and other files stored on your Google Drive
* Upload files to Google Drive directly from your Android device
* Share any file with your contacts
* Access files others have shared with you on Google Drive
* Make any file available offline so you can access them even when you don't have an Internet connection
* Create and edit Google documents with rich text formatting
* Edits to your Google documents appear to collaborators in seconds
* Make quick changes to spreadsheets
* View your PDFs, presentations and more
* Upload and convert files to the Google Docs format
* Take a photo of printed text and convert it to a Google document
* Optimized experience to take advantage of larger screens for tablet users, Honeycomb (Android 3.0+)

Now Google has released the app sans the suffix, but it really does feel like a beta. There is no way to organize your files other than alphabetically (there is no option to create folders), which can be extremely restricting. There is a great option to add collaborators for certain files which can make group work much easier.

What Google did is combine Docs into the new Drive app, so any of your files stored in Docs will now be in your drive. You can go

Seems cool but how is it better/different from dropbox?
For example dropbox has a passcode feature which is one reason I use it.

The main difference is the 5 gigs of space I guess, but there are many other bonuses. Google Docs is integrated, you can share live copies with collaborators, it uses your Google account to authenticate, and much more. Download it and see if you like it.

Haha I guess so, it's impending release has been big news in the Android community. Everyone knew about it and rumors were saying it was coming out this week, which became much more credible when during a (Hangout) developer meeting the Drive icon was seen on a Google developers phone.

I had no problem on my Razr or PC. Synched some test files easy. May not use it hardly at all just like Drop Box. But I'll play with it some.

Looks like Google grandfathered in those who were already buying extra storage space with their old plan/cost as long as they don't change it or let it lapse. So I get to keep my 80GB for $20/year plan!

Mine did the same thing. It had to get set up. It tells you they'll send you an email when it is ready. Mine was sent within 24 hours.

Patience. :)
