I have a stock razr maxx that has all the original bloatware still intact. The phone has root disabled with Voodoo OTA.

The files download OK but the upgrade fails about a quarter (1/4) of the way through with a triangle with and explanation point (!)

When the phone reboots it states the upgrade failed.

I have noticed that the file being download is located the /cache directory but the name of the file is Blur_Version.6.12.173.XT912.Version.en.US.zip

Seems to me the wrong file is being downloaded from Verizon. Does anybody have an idea as to what the problem is?

Below is the last part of the log after the upgrade failed;

At this point this is what I would do. Unroot and use Matt G's Razr Utility to return to stock .173. Then menu>settings>about phone>check for updates. You should then be able to download and install the .181 OTA update. After that you can root .181 with Matt's utility. This may not be what some would recommend, but that is what I would do at this point.

I wish I knew what it was that caused the problem but I don't know enough about it.
Using Matt's Utility did the job in under a half hour and using Titanium Backup brought everything back after the upgrade to .181

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction

From your output you shared it claims to have been caused by deleting/freezing/renaming/etc the Guided Tours app Verizon pre-installs. As for the filename, that is the correct file. Verizon titles their updates based on the version you are coming from, not going to. This is why it is recommended to take updates via Verizon's service rather than sideloading, as you could accidentally install a leak that never made it to live instead.

Double check that GuidedTours.apk exists in system/apps - case sensitive.

I had a similar problem with a failed update.

When manually renaming an apk to freeze/un-freeze I fat fingered. When I corrected my mistake, 'auto capitalization' jumped in and I did not notice it until my update was failing.

How do you find the log file that gave you that error? I'm having trouble installing the update, too. Probably for other reasons though LOL

Oh.... NM. I found it. I had Voodoo app still hiding root, so the files were hidden. Thx for the help.

As a reference to those in the future, the sha1 sum mismatch is what likely inhibited the update. I've seen similar errors with some of the training videos in the /preinstall/knowyourdevice folder where the sha1 sums weren't matching. Using a Windows/Linux machine you can try to manually fix these (its a tedious process and is likely not the best option) but its safer to RSD or use Matt's utility to get back to stock.
