How to keep root after upgrade from a fresh, stock GB to ICS

1. Start with .173 or .181
2. Root
3. Voodoo
4. Backup root
5. Temporarily unroot
6. Restore root
7. Upgrade to ICS
8. Restore root

So, if you restore root before you upgrade to ICS, YOU WILL NOT LOSE ROOT! Following these steps will set the correct file/folder permissions to restore root on ICS. If these steps were previously performed following the standard GB upgrade, steps 5 & 6 are not needed prior to upgrading to ICS leaks.

CRC files are not needed to perform a successful upgrade to a moto ICS build.

Crc files are used to ensure an OTA update was not corrupted during the file transfer from motos staging servers.

Somehow I missed steps 5 & 6 and I have a few apps reporting that I don't have root while others are fine. Live and learn, I'll figure it out.

There is no "link to the case."

This happened when the .75 first came out. Tons of people tried to temp unroot then just restore root and it didn't work. Which is why the terminal commands were brought about. I've said this plenty of times before. This method does NOT work for everyone. The terminal commands do.

Btw you don't have to do the normal method to get ICS anymore. All you have to do is root, temp. Unroot, side load leak. Once it fails at sideload.zip at like the end, reboot and go back into newer recovery and sideload it again and you should be OK.

Dude, I am getting tired of your laziness... The original instructions for .75 DID NOT require or state that you should temp unroot and restore BEFORE the upgrade

So you are confused and AGAIN, reckless in your statements...

Think about this: Why would it not work when the .75 leak first came out, but works every time now on every ICS leak..? Magic? Nope, just wisdom you acquire as you get older... Most of your critics used the same logic to prove that you did not FB from .84; it just doesn't work some of the time. Do you have it straight, finally? This is my third time trying to get you to understand! Otherwise, you are awesome and a great theme'er on a different phone. Keep up the good work... I agree with you more than I don't; it just takes you a long time to admit you are wrong...but I still love you, Bro!

Why are you guys even having this argument when we have a root exploit available now?

Internet pissing matches helps no one

The ICS leaks DO NOT need to be placed in the ./cache?

Was going to check and just got a low battery while using Matt's 1.6...happened during webtop...

So, now I am going to let it charge, hopefully. I made it factory cable..but it is not here...awww #*#^&!

I wish I were in Hawaii, you are right again!

Update: This reporter's misfortune illustrates my frustration now that my phone is not charging and stuck on boot failure, please watch:

I love that one, actually watched it live along time ago in a place far far away...and was still up from the night before...I could not believe my eyes...but that was par for the course that night...
