Hi guys first time here. I first found this group while looking up directions on rooting my Droid Razr M. I used motochopper and clicked on run. Everything went through with my phone rebooting at the end. I've made sure my drivers were installed. Rootchecker says that I'm not rooted after reboot. Also, superuser app says the same things, any suggestions? Oh I've tried to root using the other root files from Rosenberg but that didn't work either.

Any more things I could try? Maybe step by step directions to make sure I'm not missing anything.

Thanks.

Yea, I've ran the script at least 5 times- no luck. I'll try again a couple times tonight. Anybody else have any other suggestions?

Thanks

The first time I rooted my phone, it had already been completely set up.  The root wouldn't take, so I had to wipe cache/dalvik and FDR to get the exploit to work.  The second time I rooted was after FXZ'ing back to stock.  I ran the root exploit immediately after activation and prior to completing setup.  It worked with no hitch.  I'm not sure why this happens on this phone.  I didn't have to wipe my table to root it.

Okay  Wiping cache/dalvik FDR and FXZ'ing back to stock. I have no idea what that is but I'll google those instructions and let you know what happened. Thanks.

Whoa whoa whoa, don't FXZ (fastboot) back to stock yet (sorry about the confusion). There's no need for that. You only need that if you've borked your phone. Try wiping caches, first. If that doesn't work, then FDR (factory data reset) and wipe caches. Wiping should get the exploit to work.

I had to fastboot my phone because I soft bricked it, and it had to be re-rooted after that. I just did it immediately and didn't have to wipe anything.

Gotcha, thanks. I'll wipe the cache and do a FDR. Thanks for clarifying that up for me.

I apologize for not being clear in my first post.  I just didn't want you to reset the phone if you didn't need to.  FDR will do pretty much the same thing, but there are other variables that could go wrong if you've never fastbooted or are not comfortable with it.

I just stumbled upon this discussion. I have the exact same problem and no matter how many times I try, I can't seem to root my Razr M. What exactly did you guys do? I used the same methods. FDR then used motochopper multiple times but it just wont work.

He just kept running the exploit, until root worked.  A couple details, though.  Are you on the latest update?  Do you have an unlocked bootloader?  What have you done to try to root, so far?

I am on the latest update. No to unlocked bootloader. And I have tried motofail2go and doomlord exploits.

They locked up the root exploit with the latest update. Motofail is for 4.1.1, Motochopper is for 4.1.2 (pre-update). If you had an unlocked bootloader, you would be able to re-root, but if you're not unlocked, you're out of luck for now. There are rumors that people were rooting the update with Motochopper, but I don't think that was ever proven.

Damn, I guess I'll just wait and hope for a new exploit or just keep trying. Well, thanks anyway
