If anyone is willing to host the installer somewhere, I would be grateful. No matter where I have put it, the download is atrociously slow :(

C'mon, that's basic web experience.. If you don't have that, it's questionable if you should be using a custom rom or anything even close to this difficult

Hmm from what I know anyone can run into something new. This was new to me, I had no idea what a .crc file is, but now I do. It takes anyone time to learn new things. I don't think that's abnormal at all.

I don't see why your comment was even spoken, should have just continued doing what you were doing, but alas, you felt compelled to look "like omg" awesome to everyone else.

lol laughable really :D

Because it's been stated like 50 times in this thread.. I read every page of this thread last night after I had problems flashing I will vouch for it being stated at least that many times..

md5/crc/SHA1 all them are checksums.. A checksum is a separate file or number that tells you if you have a truly authentic download..

17 pages, 50 times, that averages more than 2 times a page... Really!??

Then that's not basic web experience, that's what the op said. "Seems like you haven't read the thread" So looks like your basic web experience was more just reading. Which I agree I should have read more. But there's no point in bashing others if they're having problems. The kick em when their down mentality.

....Just a thought.

You answered your own question. Take 5 minutes to read the thread. then if you still have questions ask or jump into chat. The problem is people ask questions that have been answered numerous times several pages back, and if you took a little time to read and find out what issues/questions others have, it will help clear things up before you move forward.

So, sideloading a rom is just really installing it in stock recovery?

almost...

Sideloading a 'stock' ROM or update thru stock recovery. not a custom or aftermarket ROM

moved files to /cache folder. (only one i could find)
tapped on it, tapped on rom manager, phone rebooted but not into recovery.
Went back into ES file explorer and the .zip file in /cache was gone.
Any ideas??

Edit: In the OP it says to move it to the sdcard. Only place there is /.cache folder.

not /cache folder on sd card.

if you're gonna do it this way, you need to get the ROM and the .crc files (both) in the /cache folder in the root of your phone. you need to navigate one folder higher than /sdcard in ES file explorer.

easier way is to sideload it from sd card using stock recovery.

save the rom to root of sd card, boot into stock recovery, then install zip from sd card. let it go and you're golden.

My battery life is much worse with this 79 ICS as compared to GB, everything else is good though.

My battery seems worse on .79 than even on .75? Who knows.

I decided to flash up to this leak yesterday, and then installed dhacker's cm9. 3 hours into the day and I still have 100% battery.. something tells me that isn't right.

I have a question, I got this method to work tonight after having to go through a lot of errors.

At any rate .79 boots perfectly and seems to be running great. Now I am trying to go straight to .206 so I downloaded the update for it.

Problem is when I Try to boot into the motorola recovery it just sits there at the Red M and never goes to the recovery.

Am I supposed to wait a while? I waited like 5 minutes but still nothing.

Finally got .206 installed. For some reason though the recovery is giving me errors. I had to restart the phone a dozen times and finally go into recovery and it kept giving me cache errors.

Man this. 206 version is the heat!

I'm pulling my hair out here...

I followed the instructions to a tee:
1. Fastbooted .181 to ensure i had a clean copy. Check.
2. Rooted. Check
3. Installed ES File explorer and free Rom Manager. Check
4. Made ES have root access, able to go up to root folder, and sytem writable. Check.
5. Downloaded both files, moved to /cache on root. Check
6. Clicked zip file in ES, selected Rom manager, approved root. Check

Then Rom manger goes into what looks like a normal boot and update cycle, it unpack the file, but after about 2-3 minutes it reboots and I'm still on .181. I have done this several times, same result. I lose root each time, and am unable to get into normal recovery (both volumes and power gets me into recovery, but I can't use the down volume button to select any option--I can only hit "normal boot").

Just not getting what's going wrong here. Any help appreciated.

BTW, I also tried side loading. That also did not work, and lost root as well.

I had all the same issues as well. What i ended up having to do was RSD back to 181 and i also had to format my external SD card. I was then able to sideload the zip through normal recovery.

When you have the recovery issue just reboot the phone a few times and recovery should work.

had been running .75 for couple of weeks when I decided to update to .79, its been good and all but I am wondering why no one has taking these and come up with a rom to flash. I need to feed my flashing frenzy!!!!! I know that there is a cm9 build but I want to stick with a moto build, dont know why exactly right now, but I do. Does hdmi out work on that CM9 rom?
