Around 10pm last night i noticed my service went out completely on my phone.  There were no bars, and a NO symbol through the area where bars would normally be.  Upon inspection i rebooted the phone and re-seated the sim card a few times before i was able to get service back.  When service was restored I was only able to access the 3G portion of the network.

*I took my phone to the Verizon store this morning to verify there are no current outages.

*I also got them to replace my sim card.

*Service is still running in 3G.

*Upon further inspection the IMEI number in my phones information is shown as "Unknown"

*When typing *#06# into the dialpad, my IMEI number shows.

Before any of this happened, for about a year and a half my phone has been rooted, and entitlements were set so I could use the mobile hotspot without paying for it.  (Yes i have unlimited data)

After leaving the verizon store I went home and used RSD to flash back to the original stock rom (cdma_spyder_9.8.2O-72_VZW-16_1ff.xml)

The flash was complete, and I also did a complete data/cache reset.

I am still only getting a 3G connection, and Verizon is telling me there is something wrong with the hardware in my phone.

Any suggestions?

Yes it sounds like there is a problem developing with your hardware..... the way to rule out a software issue would be to run Matt's utility and reset to stock..... if that does not fix it, I would say the radio(s) have been damaged/corrupted .... AFAIK there is no "fix" for that other than replacement......

Hopefully it ends up being a software issue and you can fix it with the utility.....

. This doesn't necessarily apply to the OG Razr...but the process is most likely similar. Give it a read.

If i do that, Do you think that will restore my 4G access at all?  Or is my hardware borked?

If your imei is missing or blank, then the carrier is not allowing connection to your phone. If you're able to restore it, you should have no problem reconnecting if indeed your phone does not have hardware damage.

Well i was unable to edit the phones imei externally.  I bought a new logic board and threw it in, updated to the latest jb, root, entitlement check back to 0.. and im online again...

what i noticed about my new logic board (used) is my ping is a lot lower, and stays connected without drops!

im actually glad this happened now.  The board only cost me $40.

My IMEI says "unknown". What should I do to fix this? Rooted XT912 running ragerom 3.3 I have not accepted the 98.72.165 update. I ran the update and lost my root access. When I ran the 98.72.165 update it didn't help me connect to 4G. Ran Matt's utility to option 1 then used it to root and install safe strap 3.11. I just finished with everything and I'm not connecting to 4G at all.

I also tried all the usual methods, pulling the sim card, airplane mode, soft reset, etc. I am getting full cell service as well as 3G signal at -57dBm. I am at home and I typically run full 4G service. Very rarely do I see it in 3G while I'm home.

I am having the same issue.  It seems the Baseband is missing the LTE portion.  This all started when I attempted to run CyanogenMod 11 (KitKat) which probably borked my radio.  I have used fastboot to push multiple versions of the radio and used Matt's utility (several versions) to no effect.

Any help would be appreciated.  3G sucks hard.

The 4G issue persists whether I am on Cyano 10/11, or Stock.

Baseband is CDMA_N_05.21.00R

I assume I don't have 4G because the LTEDC_U_09.1D.00 is missing at the end of the baseband.  Not really sure to go at this point.
