Can someone please tell me why my texts are stuck in "nowhere land" until I re-boot my phone. Upon fresh boot I sometimes have 12 to 14 messages which all hit at same time. I just cannot figure this out, was 4.1.2 stock. As a last resort I rooted today to see if some root magic would work although I really didn't want to. As of this moment I cannot advise if it worked, the warden is still at work and has not started blowing my phone up. I had read somewhere that it was an upgrade problem from 4.1.1 to 4.1.2 but no one here seems to have the same problem.

                                     Thank You

You can't receive or you can't send?  Is there a network issue, i.e. are you in a very bad signal area?

I was having this issue sort of in my office as the signal is fairly low, dropping into 1X at times.  Since installing the new Soak update, I haven't had any issues. Root by itself does nothing "magic", it just changes permissions on your system partition allowing you to make changes that you couldn't otherwise.

Do you have a 3rd party app for texting on, or something like SMS2PC ?

One thing you can try is to boot into safe mode and see if it still does it.

Thanks, I'll try that. Yes I was hoping Handsent (3rd party) would work. Been running it for a month now, phone is "new to me" one and a half months old. I believe I know why I got a good deal now! My lucks not that good normally...

Try this...

PSA: Those experiencing MMS issues look to see if you have AdBlock Plus installed. Try uninstalling, reboot and do another MMS.

I have a similar issue, but my text messages do not get fully delivered/saved. The message is broadcast, so it is captured by apps that read the broadcast of it, but it is never saved in the messaging database. Rebooting does not get them delivered as the OP experienced.

I have tried safe mode, and it is hit and miss. Since I do not have a third party app to see the notification in safe mode, it is difficult to know how many messages are missed, but some are lost.

This started with the original 4.1.2 update and got worse with the recent OTA. I used the tool to downgrade to the original 4.1.2 to reflash that again. I installed the OTA and things were fine for 5 days, but the issue started again.

I am rooted but not unlocked. I am fairly confident this is a firmware issue since I had no issues on 4.1.1. I have a Razr Maxx HD xt926. Has anyone else seen this? Is my only option a safe strap ROM? If so, can anyone recommend one?

My understanding is that on 4.1.1 everything in fact worked fine with regards to texting. I got a used hd which was already on 4.2.1. Seems as though original owner also had a problem upon update and just wanted rid of it, gave 300 for it's mint. I can only backtrack since I received but right from the start I saw not getting texts. I know this because my wife is a text monster. Every time I would turn off and then turn on the would be 8 to 16 new messages, so they were going somewhere and just holding until the hard reset! I don't know I give up, it's working so all is good. Although I don't like mysteries. I'd bet it's big red firmware though...
