Ok, I've written a couple RSD scripts for the RAZR HD users in the house.

WARNING: Your failure to read is your failure to get ANY support!

NOTE: ALL of these downloads require that the latest Moto USB driver be installed...

QUESTION: I'm on blah blah blah release and want to unlock but it's been patched in my version.  Can I downgrade and unlock?

ANSWER: NO

House of Moto:

Please Login or Register to see this Hidden Content

A utility for any Moto phone that has an FXZ that allows you to flash custom scripts for it.  The xt926 support file contains a FULL FXZ, Keep Data FXZ, and Universal FXZ script for RSD and fastboot [snapdragon] flash modes.  You can add Motochopper to the root directory and it will add root to the menu options of things you can do with the House of Moto.  Enjoy!

FXZ Script Generator [PROTOTYPE]:

Please Login or Register to see this Hidden Content

A tool to create custom RSD scripts from any FXZ.  You can use it to recreate all the scripts in this thread or create your very own custom scripts to flash any combination of things from the FXZ.

(RSD Lite 6.1.5 - needed for the scripts below)

Please Login or Register to see this Hidden Content

That's RSD 6.1.5.  Just extract it, run it, and install it. It will be used to flash the XML files in each of these archives.

(Radio Updater - Requires RSD Lite above)

Please Login or Register to see this Hidden Content

That's the radio updater script I wrote.  It allows people on custom roms to update the radios from the latest OTA update without having to revert to stock and flash the update.  On future updates, you can extract the NON-HLOS.bin file from the update zip, drop it in overwriting the file that's in this archive, and flash it with RSD.  To flash open the radio_updater.xml file.

NOTE: You can't use this to downgrade a radio.  A full FXZ is required to do that.

(Universal FXZ - Requires RSD Lite above)

Please Login or Register to see this Hidden Content

NOTE: This script is built into the House of Moto xt926 support file now for easier flashing.

This is an RSD script that will upgrade, downgrade, or reinstall an FXZ without erasing your data partition. See the NOTES and WARNINGS below.

How to use:

o) Download the SamuriHL_Universal_FXZ file above

o) Extract the contents of your FXZ to a folder (hereby called the FXZ folder)

o) Copy the SamuriHL_Universal_FXZ.xml file to your extracted FXZ folder

o) Flash the SamuriHL_Universal_FXZ.xml file in your extracted FXZ folder with RSD (see below for RSD instructions)

NOTES (MUST READ!):

o) The SamuriHL_Universal_FXZ.xml file should be at the same level as the other files from the FXZ, NOT in a directory above it.

o) On some FXZ's, the system image file is called system.img.  This script is looking for system.img.ext4 so please rename the file in your extracted FXZ folder OR change the line in the SamuriHL_Universal_FXZ.xml script to match.

o) This does *NOT* flash the TZ partition. If you are using this script to upgrade, please be aware of it.

WARNING (SHOULD READ!):

o) Using this will blow away root, so, if you're not unlocked and want root, do not use this unless there is a root exploit for the version of Android you're flashing!  Voodoo OTA Root Keeper will NOT protect root while using this script!

General flashing process for RSD scripts:

o) Shut the phone off

o) Hold Volume down, press power.  You will load into AP Fastboot mode

o) Connect the phone to USB

o) Load RSD...RSD should detect your phone

o) Press the ... button and select the XML file from the script you're using (see above)

I flashed it via fastboot myself. Of course in order to do this you need to have adb and fastboot installed on your computer. Commands....

fastboot flash modem NON-HLOS.bin

fastboot erase modemst1

fastboot erase modemst2

fastboot reboot

Then you should be good to go.

Yup.  That's what the RSD script does.

Thanks for this but I think reception is worse with the update. Before flashing I was getting -85 dBm now I'm getting -100>-125 dBm 3G signal. Hmmm. I may flash the old modem back.

Yea, um, about that flashing the old modem back thing...see my note at the top under radio update.  I spent quite a bit of time last night trying to do exactly that with both fastboot and rsd.  Not a chance.

I was able to. I flashed the radio NON-HLOS.bin from the DST 9.16.9 and when I rebooted I was getting no signal. I then booted into recovery wiped cache & dalvik cache, fixed permissions and rebooted, my signal back and my baseband version is back to .09 at the end.

Interesting.  I was unable to get it to work.  Very nice.

I'm slowly but surely learning this stuff. But I'm no Dev by any means. I experiment. Either way it pays to backup before doing anything. That was gonna be my next thing to try. Restore a backup.

I was able to go back JUST restoring a nandroid.  It surprised a bunch of us.  That's when I was able to test my script to make sure it was able to update.  Experimenting on an unlocked phone is not a bad thing.  Keep up the good work!

Updated radio without a hitch...thx!

BTW....is the radio software the only worthwhile file in that entire maintenance update?

I'm not sure.  There were firmware updates, too, which are technically possible to flash, but, I don't know what they do or how much they help.

For some reason your I am unable to root via the rooting tool, after downgrading.  I downgraded through RSDlite, and then tried to run motochopper, but without any success.  Any ideas or help?  I am currently 9.16.6.XT926.Verizonen.US, on my phone, but cannot root.

Link to the Downgrade/Root util changed slightly.  People were unzipping it into a folder with ( ) which is bad.

When I get a chance to try again I'll take a screen shot of the message I get when trying to root.

It's really not too hard.  First make sure you have the Moto USB driver installed.

o)  Download the zip file.

o)  Extract it to a folder with NO SPACES.  E.G. C:\SamuriHL_Downgrade-RAZR_HD

o)  Connect your phone to a USB 2 port, enable USB debugging, and set it to MTP mode

o)  In the SamuriHL_Downgrade-RAZR_HD directory, run the SamuriHL_Downgrade.bat

o)  If you need to have the OTA update zip copied to your sdcard, use option 1

o)  Select option 2 to flash the MR2 FXZ files.  Follow the directions to put your phone in AP Fastboot mode, then allow it to flash with RSD

o)  Once the phone is rebooted, select option 3 to root.  Follow the directions

o)  Once the phone is rebooted after root, select option 4 to protect root

o)  Once the phone is rebooted, select option 5 and follow the directions to install the OTA update

o)  Once the phone is rebooted, and the Android upgrade script finishes, select option 6 to restore root

The restore root option may throw a couple failure errors.  That's ok since you should already have Superuser apk installed.  Once it's done, open SuperSU and verify that it has root.  If it tells you the su binary is out of date, try to update it. If it fails, root was not restored successfully.  If it works, open something like Root Checker or some other util that requires root and verify it's working.
