First let me say this if you have NO IDEA what your doing don't mess with your phone. You should really have read posts about these issues prior so if it happened you would have some idea what to do.  That being said I will try to help.  Ok download the android sdk kit from here

and intall it.  Sdk has ADB in it already so i will know you have it downloaded.  Then download the FXZ from here it is the last one on the list

DO NOT UNZIP THE FILE RSD will do it for you.

Now go to your phone system setting>developer options and turn on usb debugging also make sure your phone is on MTP. To do this on the main screen swipe down the notification tray and check connected as a media device. Now but your phone into AP fast boot if it isn't already I think you said it was stuck in it.   Plug your phone in open RSD lite which you have already installed on your computer.  If RSD light doesn't see your phone change the usb port, on my Toshiba only one usb port works for RSD.  If it still doesn't see your phone then make sure you have the most recent Motorola drivers installed you can get them on their site.

Ok if you did all this correctly you will take the above zip file and put it on your desk top. In rsd go to file name at the top find the zip and click on it.  Another box will open and it will say decompress only/decompress and start flashing/cancel.  You want to decompress and start flashing, RSD will then flash you back to the 66 build which you can root. I think there were 19 steps in the flashing process the first 16 took a min to do the last ones 17-19 may take about 10-15 minutes.  DO NOT UNPLUUG YOUR PHONE UNTIL IT BOOTS BACK UP.  I don't care what the RSD screen says the FXZ is done when the phone reboots.  My wifes phone was rooted and I took the new update and it didn't install the new radio.  Matt's utility didn't work for me I had an error so I just did it the manual way above.  I flashed back to stock rooted saved root with voodoo unrooted with voodoo and took the update,  It worked and then I reinstalled root with voodoo.

To make this simple what we are doing is putting the stock file back on your phone.  FXZ fixes all software issues.

bigv, thanks for your help and time! But Shane1 already got me back to stock (see above). I guess I should have checked "solve"? Now I am trying to get back to root. Shane also provided link above. Now I am just trying to find MR2 FXZ. Ideas? When I was rooted before, I did back up to Voodoo, but I had to wipe my card to get out of bootloop. So my root status couldn't be kept.

So I download FXZ to pc then flash phone with RSD, then root with the motochopper I used from most recent exploit in April?

Am I supposed to have SU and Voodoo installed before root?

How do I know when there is an Android update? Usually the update occurs when I am asleep or nowhere near my phone.

No you dont have su installed before root it will be installed when you root.  Voodoo is downloaded from Play store.  Im going to set this up in bullet form:

1. download fxz

2. install fxz with rsd

3. root

4. download voodoo protect root then unroot

5. go to about phone then sytem update when you check it will say you have an update

6. download and install the update

7. after uupdate is installed and boots back up go into voodoo and restore root

8. Wham bam thank you mam you have root on the new update.
