I just updated the OP with 1.3.  It should bring the xt907 version in line with the xt926 version and should be fixed for linux/mac now.  I hope.  Can someone try it on a mac and let me know?  Thanks.

It "appears" to work fine Sam. Obviously I cannot run it since I dont have a 907, but its OK with regard to carriage returns/linefeeds, so the utility seems to run fine with no bad interpreter messages

That's what I was hoping for.  Some joker (cough cough kaos) edited the damn thing with a non-unix understanding editor and converted the sh script to dos.  SMH.  I converted it back to unix.

hm sadly this does not work for me...followed the instructions on (Windows 7 64bit), terminal says everything is fine, devices reboots...but I now got stuck on the "warning unlocked bootloader" screen...copied system.img to the motochopper 1.3 folder...no luck, still stuck, device does not boot up anymore :(

Any ideas?

Note that it says "for locked bootloaders" in the OP. Since you appear to be unlocked, you don't need this.
Which version did you come from? Are you sure you're on the latest one?

I think you need to explain what you have now and what you are trying to accomplish. What you posted is virtually useless to help you. And as sloose stated, you have an unlocked BL and this is for locked BL

Great example why one shouldn't do this kind of stuff late at night...I totally missed the "for locked bootloader" part :/

I unlocked the bootloader a while ago, had root and twrp. Then got the most recent update ota. With that I lost root and had terrible battery life. Flashed slims latest custom rom, runs great but still no root (and wrong ppi settings)...flashing root through twrp did surprisingly not work out...

...that's where I gave the newest motochopper here a try...now stuck on the bootloader screen after tool runs successfully ...

If your unlocked then you should be able to use Matts 1.20 utility to get back to stock and start over.

Ah. That's what you did...

So yeah... Don't use a root exploit on a custom ROM.

Was the slimrom you flashed a 4.3 version? If so, that's why your root wasn't working - special stuff is needed for 4.3 root.
You can probably flash a clean slimrom build then flash the latest SuperSu zip to get your root back...

yes, slim's 4.3 rom...worked great except not having root and wrong ppi...will look into Matts tool and start over again.

I've always frozen updater.apk with TiBu.
