If anyone can help me understand/learn how to perform the following three topics then it will be highly appreciated. I know there are a few of these utilities for linux that are floating around but I can not seem to get them to work on my Ubuntu (12.01 LTS) and was wondering if perhaps someone could help guide me though them.

WARNING: I am very noobish to Linux/Ubuntu, so bear with me.

Matt's Utility for Linux

I tried to get it to work but kept giving me errors. It is too complicated too, because I have a 32 bit computer and you had to replace a few files and such just to get it working.

Android SDK/ADB for Linux

I do not see any guides showing how to install Java SDK or even how to get ADB working on it. Only for windows.

ICS Root Utility

There is a linux version for motofail but not for the ICS version.

EDIT:

Okay so I saw a few people needed the moto-fastboot file for linux. SO, with a little research and tech skillz (lol) I found it on xda.

The command to use for moto-fastboot for linux is like so:

sudo ./moto-fastboot (insert command etc.)

BTW: Once you download and extract, (if using 32bit) rename moto-fastboot32 to just moto-fastboot

If u search xda for easy Ubuntu how to install adb and fastboot there is a thread with a simple script u run in a terminal and it installs everything u need in order. I have the link at my house but im at work now. It takes a good hour or so to run through but it couldn't be easier man....ill post the link when i get home if u cant find it.

Hmm... Ubuntu FTW! Lol.

To answer your question there isn't any real solid scripts for linux. The sdk is fairly easy to setup a quick google search for "android sdk linux" will get you going in the right direction. Hit me up if you need help. When it comes to the scripts for phone repair I have a copy of moto-fastboot for linux that I could send your way but all of the commands will have to be entered manually. But here's a tip! If you pull apart one of the .bats for windows you can see pretty much what commands need to be entered in which order to get the job done. I've been thinking about getting a script put together for those of us on linux just haven't gotten around to it yet!

I know... I know... I was so excited about the prospect of an incremental update to 206 from 79/85 but I'm on 84 so no love... just avoiding intentionally soft bricking my phone to "upgrade" from a fully functioning build. Just can't bring myself to do it. Especially since my fiancee is supposed to get this phone as soon as we get the time to take care of the switch. Being busy sucks and shed totally rail on me if I bricked her phone to be haha
