My girlfriend just bought a Macbook Pro and would like to switch her Razr Maxx and get a iPhone. I'm not quite sure how the selling process of a phone that has a sim card would work. If anyone could help me out it would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

Just wipe all the settings (factory reset), and remove the SIM card. It can't be used without the sim card to whomever buys it, but they'll have to get a new SIM card anyhow to put it on their account.

eBay, Craigslist I've used them both. If it's a local sale, I like to meet at a corporate Verizon store and get the phone swapped to their account and make sure they're all set.

Ok, should she deactivate it before she sells it just in case? And the person would have no problem reactivating it at a verizon store?

On a 4g phone such as the Razr, once you pull the sim it's deactivated. Until the sim or a new one is inserted. Works like a gsm phone with a sim.

Ok, great! How much would a good condition Razr Maxx sell for... It's never been rooted or anything.

Depends on what it comes with (standard accessories, etc). I got mine for 340, used for just under 2-3 weeks. I've seen them range from 220.00 up to 750.00, it's all a matter of where you sell it (craigslist, ebay, etc), if you have to ship it, if it's a local sale, if there will be fees associated with the sale (ebay), and so forth.

If you sell just fyi, best cash in hand, no paypal, or western union alot of scams are being pulled, until you have the funds no 1phone or anything else.

As others have said, if she does a factory reset and pulls the SIM she is fine to sell it. That being said, she will almost definitely not be happy with an iPhone after have a Razr Maxx. The 4s has atrocious battery life. At our office, I have the OG Razr, a friend has the Maxx, and 3 people have the iPhone 4s. They have all sworn off buying the iPhone 5 after seeing how much faster both of our phones are, an also how even my OG makes it quite easily through a full day of work being used constantly while most of their phones are dead by the end of the day when just sitting at their desks almost unused. Just listening to some music the one guy complains about having to charge his phone by 1PM every day. Coming from the Maxx to an iPhone will mean a major speed loss, especially if you are in a 4G area, as well as 1/3 to 1/4th the battery life (based on my experiences, not any large testing data).
