I believe you are correct. I have heard of powered usb otg cables working for other flash drives, so thats most likely the case here too.

 

And I dont have a powered one of those...

Some updates for those interested. I took the drive on a trip earlier this week. Before leaving I put about 10GB of music on a 16GB drive. I tested it here at my house and it worked fine. I unmounted it properly and stowed it in my bag.

 

Got on plane, plugged in drive and the phone said the drive was blank or unformatted, which it was not. I threw the sdcard into my laptop, its FAT32 and I could see all my music. I copied the music to the laptop, reformatted the drive, copied music back and it worked again.

 

Unfortunately, the same exact problem seems to crop up. It works for a bit, but after you stop using it and then try again, its cant seem to read the drive properly. So far I am not sure if its the drive, the disk or the phone or rom I am using.

 

I will be curious to see what others experience once you all get yours. I'll keep playing and posting.....

Had email with the Guys and they are shipping me a replacement unit as this one seems to have failed. Not only does it now work in my phone anymore, now it doesnt work in my PC either.

 

At least they are fast to acknowledge a possible failure and are replacing the unit.

Replacement unit arrived today and is working as expected. Easy to deal with these guys. I am going to send the bad unit back so they can try and figure out why it failed.

I ordered a dozen of these on 8/30.  Have not received them.  Gave them a ring and they are having issues with delivery out of their overseas manuf. They are hoping to ship early next week.  Just an FYI.

Received mine today.  Slick little unit.  I wasn't expecting the micro2Std USB adapter as well. 

 

I will confirm that this works for the Moto X - mounts as USB Disk 1.1.1

OK, I've tested this thing with several devices now. 

 

Plug&Play- Razr HD, DNA, S4, X

 

The N7 2013 requires the use of an app to mount - StickMount by Chainfire is what I used, but requires root

 

NO GO - Bionic - which didn't surprise me as it does not have power in the usb port.
