Please do yourself a favor and read, read again, and read one more time before installing and using this tool.  If it's set up correctly, it's very easy to use.  But if you don't follow directions, it'll either not work or not do what you expect.  Failure to read and follow the directions is NOT a defect of the tool!

Attention Windows users...you should transition to using this:

Please Login or Register to see this Hidden Content

What is it?  It's a replacement for the House of Moto for Windows users.  The RSD Flasher is a Java application that will allow you to:

o) Select your FXZ...either the zip or XML
o) If you selected the zip file, it'll extract it for you to a destination folder of your choice
o) It will then present you with options to flash FULL, KEEP DATA, or UNIVERSAL (on some phones)
o) Pick an option, it generates the script, loads RSD, and starts flashing it for you all automatically.

It really can't be simpler than that!

For everyone else...Read on...

Mission statement for tool:

This will allow users to have a user friendly framework automation tool for new Motorola devices.  Easily customized for any device that allows RSD or fastboot flashing of custom scripts that perform various functions.  Most notably is when a user screws something up and the phone no longer boots (so called soft bricking).  The KEEP DATA and/or FULL scripts can restore the partitions of the phone to minty factory fresh in the event that your phone doesn't boot.

Shamelessly borrowing liberally from a Nike commercial:

o) If you don't like to read directions FULLY, this ain't for you.
o) If you are unable to follow directions FULLY, this ain't for you.
o) If you can't unzip a file, this ain't for you.
o) If you don't know what an FXZ is, this ain't for you.

o) Otherwise, you know, this is for you.

Required Steps (NOTE: You MUST do ALL of these steps for this to work!)

Downloads:
o)

Please Login or Register to see this Hidden Content

o)

Please Login or Register to see this Hidden Content

o) The correct FXZ for your Device from here:

Please Login or Register to see this Hidden Content

Install:

o) You MUST install the Motorola USB driver

o) Extract the HouseOfMoto folder in the zip to your hard drive.  IMPORTANT: Make sure no spaces are in the path. (Windows users should extract it to C:\)
o) Create an FXZ_xt#### folder in the HouseOfMoto folder
o) Extract the FXZ files to your HouseOfMoto\FXZ_xt#### directory. (see Extracting the FXZ below)
o) Run the HouseOfMoto-ScriptGenerator to generate scripts (See Device Support below)

(Linux/Mac Users):

o) You may need to chmod +x HouseOfMoto.sh
o) You may need to run it as sudo ./HouseOfMoto.sh
o) NOTE: When you enter the model in both the script generator and the HouseOfMoto.sh script, the case MUST be the same.  E.G. xt926 and XT926 are not the same.

Extracting the FXZ (NOT optional):

This part confuses a LOT of people so I'm going to use the FXZ for the xt926 as an example of how this should work.  Obviously you'll need to use the proper FXZ for your device, but, the concept is generally the same.

This is a point that many get wrong so please follow this carefully...

When you open your VRZ_XT926_9.8.1Q-79-1_CFC.xml.zip file, you will see a directory inside it.  You must go INTO the directory inside the zip.  There you will see a whole bunch of files.  Select them all, and extract them into the FXZ_xt926 folder.  All the files must be at the root of the FXZ_xt926 folder, NOT in a sub folder within it.  If you have this:

HouseOfMoto\FXZ_xt926\VRZ_XT926_9.8.1Q-79-1_CFC.xml\boot.img

It's wrong.  If instead you have this:

HouseOfMoto\FXZ_xt926\boot.img

It's correct.

DEVICE SUPPORT (NOT optional):

NOTE: You MUST have Java installed and correctly set up to allow it to run executable jars for this step!

o) Run the HouseOfMoto-ScriptGenerator.jar
o) Select the FXZ_xt####\xxx.xml file (It will be a long name e.g. VRZ_XT926_9.8.1Q-79-1_CFC.xml

o) Press Generate Scripts

This will generate KEEP_DATA and FULL scripts for fastboot and RSD modes and will be in your FXZ_xt#### directory

[REQUIRED if you have an OMAP or Snapdragon device UNLESS you plan on ONLY using RSD mode]
o) If you have an OMAP device (xt875, xt912, etc), you MUST extract

Please Login or Register to see this Hidden Content

 to your FXZ_xt#### directory
o) If you have a Snapdragon device (xt907, xt926), you MUST extract

Please Login or Register to see this Hidden Content

 to your FXZ_xt#### directory

P.S. If you don't end up with Windows, Darwin, and Linux folders in your FXZ_xt#### directory, you did it wrong.

Usage:

o) Your phone MUST be in AP Fastboot mode.  Try holding volume down and pressing the power button when the phone is off.

o) Run the HouseOfMoto.bat or HouseOfMoto.sh in your HouseOfMoto directory

o) On first run:
Enter your device model (xt926, xt875, etc)
For Windows: Select flash mode: rsd or fastboot
o) Flash mode on Windows can be changed from the main menu
o) Phone model can be changed from the main menu
o) Select the script you wish to flash
o) Follow directions!

NOTES:

o) xt#### is the device model...i.e. xt1058, xt895, etc
o) If root exists for your device, add the files to the HouseOfMoto\root folder.  Make sure run.bat and/or run.sh exists.

CLARIFICATION: When I say "if root exists for your phone" I'm referring to a root exploit that has a run.bat script in order to install root.  If that doesn't exist for your phone, or your root exploit does not have a run.bat, this does not apply to you.  This is ONLY for adding an option to root your phone to the House of Moto menu as a convenience option.  It is NOT a required step.

DA FAQ:

Q: What flash mode should I pick?
A: Whether you use RSD or fastboot is a personal choice and completely up to you.  If you have problems flashing in one mode, you can switch to the other and try again to see if you get better results.
Q: My RAZR HD or M is stuck in AP Fastboot mode with a sticky bit failure.  Help?
A:

Please Login or Register to see this Hidden Content

 Follow that.

SUPPORT:

If I tell you to create a log and post it, you are to run the CreateLOG.bat file to your c:\HouseOfMoto directory and post the results in this thread.

And yes, a Linux/Mac version of this could be possible.  It just won't be in the first release.

For us less knowledgeable types -

"This will allow all users going forward to have a user friendly framework automation tool for new Motorola devices.  Easily customized for any device that allows RSD or fastboot flashing."

To which Moto devices does this apply? Bionic on the list?

OP updated with new information.  HoB users are going to have to adjust as this is not a hand holding tool.  LOL!  It's very simplistic but VERY powerful in terms of what you can do with it.

What's working:

o) Dynamic menus that detect your scripts depending on mode you selected

o) Root detection (will not show root option if run.bat doesn't exist in the root directory)

o) Changing flash modes and rescanning for scripts

What's left to do:

o) Instructing the user to reboot AP Fastboot mode

o) Copying the script and supporting files to the FXZ directory

o) Calling RSD with the script

o) Calling the fastboot batch file

o) Cleaning up the FXZ dir after the script is finished

It's all fixed now.  1.1 should be rock solid.  There are a few little quirks but they won't break anything and I may get around to solving them at some point maybe.  Honestly if you trigger the quirks in the code you're not following directions, so, I don't feel bad.

If people want support for a particular device they need to send me a copy of their FXZ's XML file and I'll write a Keep Data and FULL rsd and fastboot script for it.  I'll throw an xt907 support file together momentarily.

I don't have scripts written for the 912 so she's going to have to write them herself based on the instructions above.  She should look at the xt875 files as a template to see how it should look.  Unless you want to send me the 912 FXZ xml and I'll put a package together for it.
