I'd guess a USB cable or port issue in your case.  Make sure you're using the original USB cable that came with your phone and that you are using a USB 2.0 port, *NOT* a USB 3.0 port.  Make sure your drivers are up to date, as well.

Is this advise directed to me and my post? sorry bit confused..

Okay, it is time to ask for help. I'm new here and new to "messing" this deep in my phone. However, I'm good at following instructions from smart people though.

Info:

xt907 Moto Droid Razr M

System version: Unknown

Latest Driver: I'm not sure what this means, I did download the current USB Moto driver.

USB cable that came with the phone

Symptoms and actions:

Phone suddenly locked up and shutdown as I was placing a call. Auto-rebooted to the "lightening eye." The sparks were moving, but slowly. Phone stayed at that stage for a day.

I attempted (VOL DOWN + POWER) resets several times. Continued to hang in the same place.

I cleared the cache several times. No help.

Reluctantly I performed a factory reset hoping for improvement. None.

I read, and re-read the HoM and just completed a flash of VRZ XT907 9.8.1Q-78-1 CFC. The flash failed.

Now the phone will only boot to AP Fastboot with a flash failure note. (See below for the SWDL)

Did I soft-brick it somehow?

What should my next steps be? (Please take it easy on the techspeak, I'm not fluent.)

SWDL:

I read, and re-read the HoM and just completed a flash of VRZ XT907 9.8.1Q-78-1 CFC. The flash failed.

See bold part in the quote.  Yes, it will fail.  Get the proper FXZ.  Trying to downgrade will fail.

Thank you!

Solved.

Thought I was using the right version, thanks for the tools, help, and advice.

So this means I didn't have to wipe my data doesn't it? I could have kept my apps, settings, and app data, huh? Shoot!

You're the only one posting in this thread for several days so yes.

So I uninstalled and reinstalled the USB Drivers and motorola device manager software. the cable is oem.

Tried again to Flash using RSD option and get the same results.

Dont know what else to try... ?

Me either.  It's not being sent properly to your phone.  Try another USB port or another machine.

No idea.  It's not a House of Moto issue as it's doing the right things.  I assume you tried switching to RSD mode on those two other machines, as well, just to see if that worked?  And you're sure they're USB 2?  Your phone is rejecting everything that's sent to it.  No idea why.

USUALLY they're blue, but, not always.  Make sure.  And what's the filename of the FXZ you're using?

Identical issue in terms of flashing to yours.  Something bad is going on for you two. I just don't know what.

Yes tom398 and I seem to be in the same boat.

I can confirm I have been using usb 2 ports on both machines and tired both rsd and fastboot. nada.

the fxz i am using is Android 4.1.2

Blur_Version.98.21.122002.XT925.RCI.en.CA

9.8.2Q-8-XT925_VQL-12.2_CANADA_VANQJBLTEFRCI_P004_CFC_fb.xml

i could try again the Android 4.0.4

Blur_Version.7.5.49003.XT925.RCI.en.CA?

7.7.1Q-144_VQL_S3-49_USERSIGNED_CANADA_SIGNCanadaIRDUnlk_USAVANQURGRCANA005.0R_CFC_fastboot.xml

I link my parallel adventures and attempts for record.

You can't go backwards.  You MUST use the very latest FXZ that's available for your phone.  Otherwise it will brick.  I don't have any other ideas.  If the FXZ is correct and the very latest, then I don't know what else you can try.

Hello i ran into some issues with trying use this program i have created a log, what i am getting is a  bunch of lines of code in the command promt saying

The system cannot find the path specified.

i have a xt926 hd razr and i am ran through the instructions about 5+ times to make sure i didn't skip anything but maybe i did. Any ideas? i made a copy of the log so i can get some info. Thanks.

EDIT: My phone died on me when i was traveling and got the "Encryption unsuccessful" error, apparently its a internal SD card error. i have an external SD card and was hoping to mount this image on the external, any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much.
