I have a new Droid Rzr M.

I have read problems comming from Over the air Updates.  But I believe my phone has not caught up yet.

I'm starting  with System Version 98.16.1.xt907.verizon

Android 4.1.2

Kernel 3.0.31-ge491d6d

I have been denying 98.16.3 update.

Should I allow it?

Or go ahead an Root?

Are all root methods safe with this setup?

THANKS!!!

Sorry for the noobishness, but I'm in the exact same situation as OP... does anyone know which Motorola driver I need to install before running motochopper?  I downloaded Motorola_End_User_Driver_Installation_6.2.0_64bit but I'm not sure if that's right.  Thanks/

depends on your Windows version. If you're 64 bit, that's good. Otherwise you need the 32 bit version

Thanks for the enthusiasm!

1. I searched for my version number and did not come up with a root method.   The searches returned almost no results. Weird. The stickies are for much later versions.   What's the best method?

2. Is there a way to block future OTA updates?

thanks!

Yep. MotoFail2go (maybe) or Motochopper (presumably any version) would work

Thanks for the links!

I got rooted.  I think i unlocked but it booted normally.   During boot It said my boot loader was unlocked twice.

How to I check for Unlocked status?

I did not run CWM or TWRP.

Do i need to start over?

Any recommended roms?

Is Android 4.3 stable or should I just go to 4.2.xx?

When your phone boots up, you should have a warning thelling you that your bootloader is unlocked, if not, you may be rooted, but not unlocked. If that is the case, go back and follow the steps again, if you get stuck, ask for help in the chat room... That was what I did back in March...

Block future updates by freezing the updater in Titanium Backup
