Just restored my Razr using the fastboot files. everything worked fine and had no errors or problems using RSDlite 5.6. when it was done, my phone was back on 6.11.744 but I still have root. Is that normal? I thought it would return my phone to pure out of the box stock with no root.

EDIT: Nevermind. the superuser app was still there but no permissions. did factory reset and now back to bone stock out of the box. All is good and I can start over.

RSD doesn't execute a wipe of the phone so this is normal.

Did you try to do a factory reset right after fast boot? Sometimes some data remains from whatever rom you were on before fastboot

You need to fact reset/wipe data either before or after rsd to get a full stock experience

You could try another fast boot and hard factory reset right after. Make sure you have enough juice though. Sometimes ppl have to do it 2-3 times.

Okay, so i loaded the fastboot file into RSD lite, but no matter what, my phone does not show up in the list of devices. Whenever i try to do the volume up and down for 10 secs, power key, it shows the stock recovery menu, but the volume down key does not navigate down like it should to let me select AP Fastboot. any ideas? :(

Please make sure you press all three evenly and let off at the same time. What you have described happens to me often...

Hope it helps...if not, make sure you have the latest moto drivers installed and that the USB cable isn't damaged. Also, open RSD before you connect the phone in FB mode, rub your tummy, pull your right ear, and count to 7 backwards....that also works...sometimes...

Yes, I did something like this, I don't remember where I downloadEd it, but it says Verizon USA xt912 ect.etc.
Like it was I already compared with my brother's phone and are same, he never rooted, his software still original,
and mine looks the same, but the question is if will I receive the ICS update when it comes?

This was a really helpful fix for me...I managed to get myself into the worst RAZR soft brick possible, with no booting into recovery or BP Tools, nor past fastboot at all, and I got fastboot failure every single time I tried to flash ANYTHING, and all with a completely depleted battery, to round out the mess. None of the awesome utilities out there would get me anywhere, include the revert to stock in mattlgroff's util. I first had to fashion the factory cable from an old usb cord per my googling into the dreaded RAZR "White Light of Death." That was simple enough, but you definitely need some deft hands in order to really secure the red and black parts of the wire to the battery nodes...it took a lot of gentle wrangling, and ultimately the tiny, elfish hands of my lovely girlfriend to get them securely and reliably in place. Once I got enough juice into the device to give flashing another shot, I tried flashing back to stock with the utility again, and once again it wouldn't work. I managed to finally get the GB fastboot file on this thread to flash via RSDLite and at last, I am back in business! Hallelujah!!!

Thanks to all who have provided helpful tips around the unfortunately-easy-to-soft-brick RAZR...I would have an expensive paper weight without you, so many thanks from me.
