Are there any plans for incorporating custom governors and schedulers in upcoming ROMS? I would love to see Boostedass and Smartass on the RAZR. I know there was a hack for running them on GB but I can't find anything for ICS.

Also is there a way to get SIO or NOOP on the RAZR?

I am new to the RAZR, coming from a DX and it seems we are just scratching the surface when it come to the perfomance of the RAZR.

Any info would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance!

You can run noop... I changed from interactive to hotplug and noop and believe I am smoother/faster

They can effect the I/O operations, mainly the efficiency of memory and disk usage. The razr uses DEADLINE by default, but SIO and NOOP is much faster (utilizes less CPU) and manages battery usage better.

@ ncwildcat - How did you get noop? I didn't see it on stock GB or ICS, and I have used a couple custom ROMS and haven't seen it. I use ROM Toolbox for my system settings FYI.

Just tried it out, will see if this works any better. Are you getting better performance?

I seen in a forum (

) about RAZR not running on both cores and what to do top solve it. Well i found out that i am running both cores until i change the governor. After that only a reboot will get me back to running on both cores anyone know why? I used antutu and ROM toolbox to check all this.

edit: Answered in other thread

Yeah I am an idiot, lol. I didn't see noop in the stock ROM's so I forgot to check in the custom ones. I am using noop now. LOL

I am really interested in getting Smartass and Boostedass though, but I don't know how much of an improvement they would be over hotplug. On the DroidX the combo of BoostedassV2 and SIO seemed to net the most improvement.

I am scoring a little over 3300 in Quadrant right now at stock clock speeds so I guess I can't complain. Liquid 1.5 ICS and some of my own custom tweaks and I am flying!

Haven't had any performance issues, but I'm noticing that the battery seems a little better.

Anyone know how to get the kernel modules to work? I installed the zip at the link above but not sure how to activate the Smartass V2 governor. I do not have 10 post at XDA to ask this question.

Thanks

Looks like you have to use terminal to manually add the commands from the 2nd post over there.

How are you getting these to survive reboot?

Per Whirleyes at XDA "you have to use init.d or custom init to have it persist".....Not sure how that's done but that's what he says....lol

I ran them through init.d but the flashable scripts don't work for that. He doesn't have the permissions set right for the 90module file. You could also use rom tool box to run on boot with them, but the governer wouldn't be there for the toolbox to enable it.

Yeah that's why I was curious since the I haven't really seen init.d on the Razr like I had with my X.

I'll have to mess with it

I noticed that on the module. I've loaded govs manually in terminal before, so that's no big deal. They showed up in ROM Toolbox without loading them manually, so that surprised me

I'm running .214 on simplexrom 1.0.1,
It has init.d support, and that file is located at \etc\init.d\
the file the flashable zips drop off in there is 90module and it should have permissions set to rwxrwxrwx, but the flashable zip only set's it to rw-r--r--, so you just mount system as read/write, and chmod 90module to 777, and it'll run on bootup everytime.

<-- I'm not a teacher, but that's how I did it.

They won't persist through reboot though.

Actually, it did survive reboot with ROM Toolbox. I'm on Full Throttle AOKP.

Ah, maybe they fixed the permission problem then. I did report it on xda. That makes it so much simpler.

Yes, if you flash the new files in the link I posted it will survive reboot, and then you can use Rom Toolbox or SetCPU to enable them

And I can already tell after running about 1 1/2 hours that InteractiveX will extend battery life. Battery drain isn't as steep and the CPU doesn't spike to 1200 every 3-4 seconds like it did with hotplug. Can't wait to try SmartassV2 I had great results with it on my DX.
InteractiveX contains the hotplug tweak that allows one CPU to sleep while the screen is off so that one will have the best battery life most likely

I've been running it since about 11 a.m. est. I'm on an og razr with juice defender in a 4g area, and I just hit 79% at 5:43p.m. est. With moderate use. Which is great compared to just stock ics.
