I have a request of people looking for root.  And there is no guarantee at all.  However, I need a system dump from this update (not an image...dump it using:

adb pull /system/*

Then zip it up and host it.  If someone can do that, there's someone willing to look and see if it's rootable.

This isn't much, but if you can root, I'll give you $50.  Another $50 for bootloader.

It's not me looking at it. I sent the files to someone with root experience. However, I've not heard from him. I'm not going to pester him as I know he's busy. But I'll check in with him in a few days if I don't hear from him. There's a very real possibility that it will remain unrooted. One of you brave souls could see if vroot works. It's unlikely and is Chinese but if you're desperate enough it's maybe with attempting.

You guys should really setup a bounty thread.  I have no horse in this race....I'm merely trying to hook up the right people to look at it but am not an owner of this phone.  A bounty thread may garner some interest.

Bounty is up to 80 dollars on XDA. Maybe your friend might like a little extra cash!

That comes SO close to the several thousand in the S4 bounty thread on XDA a few months ago.  :D

Yea, I'm going to be blunt and it's not going to make a lot of you happy, but, here it goes.  There's about a snowball's chance in hell that anyone's going to bother looking for root on these builds.  I've not heard back from JCase at all, and since he's not even sure he's going to release a Moto X KitKat root exploit (that he has working), I don't see much of a chance that he's going to do much for this build.  I sent him the files, but, I have no idea if he's even looked at them.  I wouldn't expect too many miracles here.  The miracle was when the bootloader was unlockable.  Those who jumped on it still have root on this latest build.  Those who didn't, or who had to get a replacement phone, well, that sucks I'm afraid.  The good news is that Moto appears to be changing their Dev Edition program to make it WAYYYYYYYYYYY more useful.  I'd personally only ever buy unlockable phones...
