i made some modifications to matts utility based on a report of steps that fix this issue and need someone to try it out and report back.
there should be no danger in testing, it works fine on a non-borked phone, i tested it myself.

Nice job fixing, this same thing just happened to me and I'll admit I was carelessly trying to flash back to stock while being rooted with unlocked bootloader and think I flashed the wrong fxz, took an ota and got locked into that bootloader screen. I'll be the first to say I probably don't know enough about programming to be rooting and what not but I can research enough to get by to get a nice ROM running. (Except this time) I called vzw to pretend I took a regular ota and didn't know what happened so they would send me another lol. I'm about to send my bricked one back, are they going to know what happened and charge me 500$ by looking at that bootloader screen?

if you can get into fastboot why not try the tool and see if it fixes the issue? just because you flashed the wrong file doesnt automatically mean its hosed.
