Honestly, I will personally pledge $500 if someone finds a root method for this device on this version BEFORE the next update. I would love to see an end to the "OMGZ Ponies! I flashed the update and now I lost root?" threads.....

Stupid idea I'm not a programmer but what if you could somehow put the root into an update or is that even realistic just asking

The thing about creating a update for gaining Root access is that Motorola Software is signed a specific way that the recovery will only allow that to pass the update through with that signature. Also one must be able to crack that code along with the bootloader to even think about creating a update that will do this. Even SPF files are signed a specific way for this, I asked that to Sam a while back for the Bionic. So the only way to do this is by being creative. I would try to, but I don't want to loose what I already have, Unlocked and Rooted.

I am by far no programmer at all, but couldn't there be a way to figure out the algorithm that Motorola uses to unlock the boot loader on dev editions and just create the right code? Then just do as you would do if you had a dev edition and unlock. Or is that not possible on a non dev edition?

I'm sure if it was that easy someone would have done it... It's one of those things like if you put the top 12 crypto guys in a room with all of Google's servers it would take them 146 years to figure out Moto's signature encryption...
