Ah man, that's no good haha. Still love my RAZR m though, compared to my bionic with the OMAP processor, this thing flies! Haha

Anyone heard any rumors on how soon? I'd be happily unrooted if this phone gets the update relatively soon .

Lol... by soon he means sometime in the next 6 months. All seriousness no word yet but the new Droids will get it first then the HD and M to follow.

i got a replacement razr m, screen issues on my previous one. this one has 98.16.3.xt907. please please please tell me this thing can be rooted somehow. motochopper isn't working, neither is motofail2go. i'm holding back the ota of doom as i type this, i really hope this version at least lets me root, unlocking would just be a HUGE bonus at this point.

eanes_87,
Yes, I believe you are in good luck with your latest replacement device.
Options as I have researched:
1. Can unlock bootloader & is rootable - If build is earlier than 9.8.1Q-78 (May 24, 2013)
2. Can NOT unlock bootloader, but rootable - If build later than 9.8.1Q-78 (May 24, 2013) but before 9.8.1Q-94 (Sept 26, 2013)
3. Can NOT unlock or root - If build is later than 9.8.1Q-94 (Sept 26, 2013 - i.e later than 98.18.78)
Your 98.16.3.xt907 falls under the 1st qualifier = earlier than 9.8.1Q-78 so can be unlocked & is rootable. Just hold back the OTA until you can unlock device ;-)
The 2nd qualifier is for devices that are in-between and require specific root process for the specific build (not applicable to your build, unless you somehow take incremental OTA to 98.18.78 (as I unfortunately did on one of my devices)

His system version actually falls under the 2nd option. .3 is the same as .78. He should be able to root it.

Thx for update/correction. Is there some place that lists all the version vs. date codes for various builds on the xt907 (also the xt926 would be appreciated).

No problem and sorry if it seemed like I was smacking your hand with a ruler. It's nothing personal, I just kind of come off crass and sometimes rude.
I'm not sure about the system versions listing, I'll have to dig a little and get back to you. Each of the last two updates for both phones had two different version numbers, so it's kind of confusing. Heck, maybe even the previous updates did, I don't know.
