Wow wow!! What do you say here? That you're able to fastboot only on the safe side? I thought fastbooting would destroy the SS partition. Maybe I didn't get correct what you said.

No, when you RSD, it wipes everything and starts you over completely fresh on 211. No SS stuff. You can put SS back on and use your backups to restore, but it will wipe SS off.

Everything but your SD card (ext/int)

Here is what happened to me OK? I just RSDed with the img from above. I did nothing to prepare it.
Result:
SS indeed wiped
Int SD not wiped
Data not wiped.
Root lost.
My phone boots and works but is a complete mess. A mixture between the new fastboot install and the last ROM from the unsafe side I was using.
Funny huh? :)
Now I wiped everything in recovery and fastboot again. I'll report back.

After RSDlite you should factory reset right after. Sometimes a second rsdlite is needed but not often.

What about doing a factory reset before using RSD? Will that work as well? So glad this leaves the SD card content in tact..
Hey bub, I'm not finished with you yet..... SKNIT!!

Yes I knew that but the phone booted right into the previous ROM. Anyways right now I do it again. Everything seems to be normal.
The RDSLite 5.7 does not finish (neither 1st time). It gets stuck in the reboot phone.I'm closing it forced.
After 1st boot I've wiped again in recovery as instructed.
Phone rebooted correctly and I have the setup screen up.
Trying now to root.

Yeah after a successful flash it will boot up (sometimes). Like was mentioned above a reset before and another after couldn't hurt, lol.

Matt's 1.7 doesn't include this file. It just prepares you to load 211 on your phone. You have to put 211 on your sd card > moto recovery > flash it from there.

Matt has said that he's coming out with 1.8 soon with this file so that we can use it just like we used 1.6 to get to 181.

but the end result is the same as to use matts tools 1.7 but you can use your PC only?
i just want to make sure i understand the difference, sorry.

I used only the PC. I used Matt's 1.7 just for rooting.
RSDLite 5.7 + the files from above. That's it.
It is working guys but to be honest I don't feel any speed difference. None.
Same Quadrant score which is not bad: 3168.

well unless one of our great hackers finds a way to unlock the bl I would not hold my breath for verizon to ever allow it to happen. verizon is really screwing over their customers but hey do they care cause the majority of them does not have clue what root or bootloader is long as their phone can get on fb, make calls, texts etc they are clueless to everything else.

i guess it would work in theory if you unzipped matts 1.7 removed the old firmware files and replaced them with the new ones and possibly work.

You're right, that would. But I'm waiting for Matt to post it. Patience is a virtue :)

Just restored a nand on the safe side. Everything works perfect.
By the way as personal preference I've formated my int SD to start fresh.
