So I am using Safestrap, not sure which one but I know I didn't get it from the Play Store. I am running Nexesque in a second rom slot which is running fine. My stock rom is 9.18.79, so Android 4.1.2 and I would like to try to get newer versions of android if/when they are released for the Maxx HD. When I try to get the next OTA update, it downloads completely and then says update failed. I tried it a bunch of times, got rid of safestrap and unrooted, and it still didn't work. I even did a simulated battery pull and did a factory reset, which wiped all my internal storage but didn't help a bit.

I know I need to flash back to stock but I don't know how to do that with a locked bootlader. Any ideas?

To FXZ back to stock.... you should use Sam's House of Moto here....

... with the proper FXZ file from here

however..... that site is currently down (from a hardware failure on their end.... they are working on it as best they can).....

But know this.... if/when you do get reset back to stock, and take the OTA.(9.30.1)...... you will lose root and the ability to re root.... thus you will not be able to run safe strap and flash ROMs .....

But if I take the 9.30.1 update, I will be able to get to newer versions of android, right?

Yes you will be able to OTA to newer versions (as they are pushed out).... which still could be a while.....

Right now the current OTA is 9.30.1....(or 9.18.94, same thing).... 4.1 2..... I would recommend staying where you're at (at least for now) ..... there is really nothing "good" for us in the update, as it essentially "locks us down tighter"...... I.E. no root... and no going back....

It actually says the update I can get is 9.18.84, does that change anything?

Edit: Just saw your most recent post, disregard this then
