Just hear me out real quick, as I have rooted my different phones many times over before and never seen this problem.  I've searched online in numerous XT912 forums and can't find a remedy for my specific problem.

Problem:

I've been running Aviator on my phone and have seen some issues, so I decided to clear it all.  Well, apparently when attempting to remove in Safestrap and install the latest Aviator, it was stating "No Operating System Found".  So I went to my Stock Backup.  When looking at my Apps in Stock, I realized that I had lost Root somehow?  Anyways, I decided to  factory reset the entire thing, and have been trying to get my phone to connect to Matt's Utility but can't at all.  I've followed the directions to a "T" and still, no go.

What I've done:

Uninstalled and Reinstalled Moto Drivers NUMEROUS times (updated directly from Motorola).

    - After each reinstallation, gone through each combination of "USB Debugging" and "Mass Storage"/"Media Device"/"Camera" I could imagine while connected to the computer so it my PC would install all the drivers.

Here is the hangup:

When "Mass Storage Device" and "USB Debugging" are both selected, my computer begins to install drivers but does NOT install "XT912".  It will install the other (5) devices except for that one.  Instead, I get a "No Driver Found".  This is my problem.

All of the other forums state to use the cable and/or get the moto drivers with a link.  I've done all of that.  My phone is freshly factory reset (hard reset since it wouldn't reset before).

Also, side note, I've noticed that "Super User" is still in my Apps list after factory resetting?  So something is screwy.  I would .sbf/RSLite this thing, but I'm afraid it still won't connect......

Any help is greatly appreciated!!!!!

nevermind....

I waited until I got home.  I was able to do it on an older, ver. Win7 OS than my newer Win7 laptop at work?!?!  Odd..........

Anyways... I got everything to load properly and format via Matt's Utility.  So now I'm good.

Thanks guys.
