Open Root Explorer (or an alternative).

Go to /system folder

Mount System RW (top right explorer in root explorer, allow root permissions).

Hold-click build.prop and open with Text Editor.

Find the ro.build.version.full= line and change the Blur_Version.98.72.16.XT912.Verizon.en.US into anything else. For example:

Blur_Version.Stop.It.VZW.XT912.Verizon.en.US

Then save /exit the text editor and reboot.  You should no longer get asked for OTA updates.

The file is named BlurUpdater_VZW.apk.   You'll find it in the system/app folder.  If you don't have Titanium Backup, you should be able to just rename it to something else like BlurUpdater_VZW.old or whatever you prefer.  Should accomplish the same thing as freezing it In Titanium Backup.  Oh, I should add, make a backup of your rom before you do it.  ;)

I don't have this in mine either :(
