Lately I been experiencing slowdowns while tethering. This is frustrating because I'm a PC gamer and slow downs = lag and a higher ping therefore being kicked because of high ping. And sometime it just stops data completely. I have to toggle airplane mode to get the data working again. Hopefully someone had a first to this.

My personal recommendation is to not use cellular data for gaming.

Some of us can't help it. Besides, gaming uses less data than watching YouTube or Netflix from the phone. I'm tired of people acting like playing 360 or computer gaming using a phone is such a huge data use

I don't really care about the data use, I just don't recommend using cellular data for gaming. It is not ready for that at all. All you will do is run into problems, run your phones battery life down specially if you are charging it while tethering, and will not in the immediate future ever have it stable enough for gaming sessions. Ping is also going to be constantly unsteady on it depending on who around you is using the same tower. I just don't think anyone using something for something it was not intended for use should complain (although he wasn't really complaining) about it not working. That is like buying a smart car and complaining you can't drag race in it. Again, I don't recommend using cellular data connection for gaming. It has a high chance at failing almost all the time.

I also never said that it caused more data usage than data. You inferred that yourself. Which is why forums constantly have arguments. Never put your own "voice" in what you read because the poster may not be saying it in that "voice". I was merely stating that I don't recommend you using cellular data for gaming, no other implications. Any other implications where added by you. I probably should have added supporting statements but I normally don't because I don't like people internet yelling at me.

Here's a few things I would try.
Wipe Dalvik and Cache in safestrap.
Try reflashing the rom.
Try a different rom.
Try a different tether app.
If none of those work, maybe big red is starting to throttle people who are tethering?
Done, bye guys, it's been fun.

If your trying to get help trying being a little less rude. He makes a good point saying that you are going to get inconsistent ping times depending on where you are and how much that tower's usage fluctuates.

Throttling is also as very big possibility now that everyone can tether... unless you have unlimited which I assume you do or you wouldn't be gaming with your data...

It depends on the game. I know from experience that watching Netflix does not use anywhere near as much data as a lot of online games. I understand some people don't have a choice but quite a few people do have a choice and abuse it anyway. This thread is not about that moral argument. He is asking for help on what could be causing this issue.

I've tried FoxFI and the SQLite hack and both work...temporarily. Eventually the connection slows and then basically stops.

Very frustrating, especially since it worked perfect under GB, but not since the ICS update.

OK, my bad for grouping you with the majority of people who respond negatively to these threads. That being said, I made the point earlier that some of us don't or can't have an ISP where we live, so to come in here and say you wouldn't recommend mobile ISP's for gaming without giving any help is just counter productive

So go down the list of suggestions I posted and try them one by one. One of those things is bound to fix the issue.
