So i tried to unlock the bootloader on my droid razr maxx hd and I thought the program i had used succeeded. Later I found it had not. I was already rooted.

I used this method:

Thinking I did succeed i tried to flash TWRP recovery with the method from this page:

The prompts said everything completed and my phone rebooted.

Now every time I try to go to the recovery menu I get a screen with a black background with an android that has a red exclamation mark above it.

I can boot my phone normally. I just can't access the recovery menu.

How did I mess up the stock recovery with a locked bootloader? Is there anything I can do?

You cannot unlock on that version. That screen is stock recovery. Hold vol down and tap vol up to bring up menu
