It was about the possibility of unlocking a device that he hadn't decided to get yet, so the suggestion of other devices is fair game.

But still off topic. Recommendation should be moved to another topic. But both of you are staff members, so I cannot be right here ;)

Well you got that part right...  Hahahahaha... totally kidding man..

If you read around our forums you find we are not exactly sticklers for off topic posts. Really the topic of this thread was dead after the 2nd post. We were just trying to help a guy out.

Plus why clutter with multiple threads. The title of this can easily be adjusted to fit the convo.

And help out you did, the other guy isn't exactly acting the nicest. You guys were totally helpful and that's why I love this site. Now back to the point. I will factor battery life heavily because most of my day is spent at college and I don't have a wireless charger lol but if I find a unlocked one what specifically can I do differently if it wasn't unlocked?

Probably because he flashed it back to stock to sell it which would kill root. Can easily be restored though...

So I ended up buying the unlocked HD. Does anyone have rom suggestions?? I was reading 4.1 and 4.2 were stable, but do I really have to go that far back for a stable and newer rom?

Me personally.... rage HD .....:)

Please Login or Register to see this Hidden Content

[ROM]-[JB]-[9.30.1]-RageHD-v2.6-[2/1/2014]-*Update*#entry341834 ... but I would look thru ALL available ROM threads and choose the one that suits your needs the best....:)

And that's really not going "that far back" .... 4.1.2 is still stock on the HD :)

I know I meant like as in we're on 4.4 lol I did look at the rage. It don't look bad at all. I also looked at a 4.3 but I can't remember the name.

So I'm reading around the rooting processes and which one am I looking for? I don't want to use the wrong one and screw everything up lol also since it's already unlocked and has TWRP installed that's like my safety net right? I just gotta backup the stock or whatever already on it correct?

Being unlocked, you will root in recovery. Depending on the version of twrp that is installed, it will do it for you.

I just picked a maxx on eBay that has 9.16.6 on it. So there are still some floating around out there. When it comes to what phone to get there is no one "perfect phone" I really comes down to personal preference and what your needs are.

It's not really self-root.  Just download the SuperSU.zip from XDA and flash it in TWRP.
