So I got my phone today. I boot it up and I get a message saying the bootloader is unlocked. My question is how come I don't see TWRP when I boot it up? I was told it came installed but its on stock. Any ideas?

You won't "see" TWRP unless you boot into recovery...(unlike safestrap, that shows up right on boot)..... power off and boot into recovery (vol up and vol down and power)

The wiping and mounting and installing should all be covered in the ROM thread..... but.... I would assume you mount system.... then wipe cache, dalvik, system, data..... then mount system (again) then go to install....select the ROM zip and swipe to install

Being unlocked, there is very little you can do to screw it up without trying hard to. As long as you aren't messing with partitions other than flashing and wiping, you should be ok. Just follow what John detailed and you will be good. Note: to wipe the system, click the advanced button and you will find that one in there.
