Sorry I'm a little confused. Why do manufacturers make Dev edition phones or we as a community unlock our phones so we can modify...if there are no drivers/API /whatever they are called to make the hardware work? I see Roms that say unofficial 4.4... but half of it is a work in progress example the camera. I'm all excited for the official release. Just for a little more control or the illusions of control. It seems like a cat and mouse game. Self edit...the turtle chasing the strawberry... its so close you can almost taste it. Sorry for the late night rant. I really do appreciate all you guys have done.

Looks like we are waiting on VZ to certify the update according to Moto's David Schuster...

I liked how he stated that the updates were in "Verizon Labs"..... Makes it sound evil

Uh, given the hell that VZW has put damned near every Moto update since the Droid 2, uh, yes, they ARE evil.

Not really. If you are not unlocked, think LONG AND HARD about this update before you take it if you care about root. Otherwise I'm going to feel as sympathetic as I do for the idiots that took the VZW S4 update and minutes later asked when root was going to be available. There will be no root exploit for this update so tread lightly.

(I don't necessarily mean no root ever, but, that's also possible. I meant when the update is released for an undetermined amount of time from a day to forever)

Not necessarily. A lot of people root stock so they can do things like backups and freezing bloat. They may not care about roms.

Looks like Moto went all out. Maxx, Ultra, HD, and M all got soak today. Impressive, most impressive.
