Okay, I've searched for literally months trying to figure this out.  I have a rooted LOCKED Razr M that will not accept an OTA update. Because I accidentally deleted the com.motorola.demomode.apk.  I have a copy of it and tried several times to restore this apk to the system, I have it in the system app folder with the permissions set correctly but it doesn't help.  The apk is not listed as on the system.

I don't have a twrp recovery that includes this file either so it won't do any good to restore that way.  Is there a way to work around this?  I pulled the OTA file and itss sitting on my SD card but have no idea how to proceed.  Even though I am rooted, I'm not one who really understands this so please be patient.  I have looked at ways to get back to a factory image.

Can somebody please tell me the best way to get out of this mess.  I like my phone rooted but I will not be able to receive the kitkat upgrade unless this is taken care of.  I cannot unlock the bootloader because my understanding is that an update broke the ability to do that.  Ideally, I'd like to end up with stock rom but still rooted or able to root.

My phone version is: Razr M XT 907 98.16.3

What I would do is grab the latest FXZ for your device

Please Login or Register to see this Hidden Content

then head over to the House of Moto - Read then read again the instructions - then do a flash with Save Data.  You might be able to get away with just flashing the system partition, but I like to play it safe.  You will lose root, but you can get it back with moto-saferoot.

You mentioned TWRP, and I have to say that if you are locked, you can't have twrp recovery.  SO either you are unlocked, or I misunderstood what you were intending.

You don't ever need to install an update via OTA.  Usually the FXZ's pop up very close to the push date.  You can always grab that and flash it rather than going thru the arduous process of trying to OTA after having made changes to system.

Fairly simple...... Use Sam's House of Moto or RSDLite to return your phone to stock.....

Well, Maybe not quite a record, LOL!  I'm thinking (dangerous) after some reading that RSDLite seems a little more user/noob friendly, nervous as heck about this, LOL!  BTW, I don't have an unlocked bootloader but this will work anyhow, right?
