I want to keep a ROM in minimalist stock form, just to have something to fall back on if I need to. I've found that I cannot swap it with a third-party ROM in a non stock slot. During restore of a third party ROM over stock ROM the system fails, even though the stock partition of the slot was wiped or formated. Same goes for putting stock over top of a third party. The system fails to restore. Now, if I delete, then recreate the slot, it will install. I have my favorite third-party ROM running in the stock slot, & I can't restore the stock ROM without SBFing the phone. I can, however, install, via zip flash, my favorite ROM over top the stock slot. Suffice it to say, I don't run the stock very much. Anybody have any idea on what gives, and how it could be simply fixed. Looks like I may have to slash lots of user apps off some ROMs to keep them, so I can have them all in their own non-shared slots? fat-fingered and Maxx-ed out.

I resolved to put a minimal installation of the stock in slot 1, the kids game ROM in slot 2, and the other two ROMs to share slot 3 in minimal form each Aviator"s Gummy and CyanogenMod.
