Hey guys, this is a bit of a different issue than usual, but here I go. Over the time I've owned my phone, I've noticed that it shuts off a lot. I assumed it crashed because I was running Cyanogenmod Nightly's and they were just unstable. Well, that's not the issue. I've found out that if you pinch the phone near the power button, it turns off immediately. Would anyone have any idea what faulty part could be causing this? I'm experienced with working on this phone, so DIY repairs will be breeze.

tl;dr: Pinching the phone near the power button shuts it off. Wat do?

Thanks for readin'

I would take it apart and see if you can see something that is flexing and causing it to short out.  Maybe you can insulate it with something.

I was afraid of that. Hopefully I find an issue with something else.

Thanks for the suggestion. I'll tear it apart and see what I can find. I'll post back if I find the issue.

Just slapped a new MB in my xt926 and i can say that the power and volume rocker is not attached to it. If there is any similarities the power rocker switch is part of the backing with a ribbon connecting it to the mother board. Sent from my VS980 4G

Well, I took apart the phone again. While poking around, I found out it's unfortunately the mobo. I marked the affected area with the red square. Would be nice to have my Razr working perfectly before I go off to the military, but I'm afraid to buy a used mobo off Ebay for fear that it could be defective or have a bad ESN. Thanks for the advice and tips though guys.

As long as you do your proper research .... Buying a mobo from eBay shouldn't be too bad..... You just have to make sure you get ALL the info from the seller prior to bidding/buying..... :):)
