Never mind.  I found App Quarantine and that worked.  Thanks for all the help.

I gave my wife my old Verizon Motorola Droid Razr Maxx.  We use Google Voice for texting.  Now, for some reason, her phone has a Text Messaging app that I cannot delete and it pops up everytime she hits the power button to wake the phone.  I tried to disable the app, but the disable button is grayed out.  The phone is no longer rooted and I did a factory reset when I gave her the phone.  Is there an easy way to solve this annoyance?

Is it the stock app?? You should be able to go into settings for the app and turn off all the notifications..

You can also root the phone...... Delete or freeze the stock messaging app...... Then unroot (if you don't want to be rooted)

and to freeze it, use Titanium Backup. Freezing gives you the option to undo your deletion at a later date. In case you need to get the app back.

It's a stock app.  I've killed the notifications, etc. but it's still there.  I was hoping not to have to root it again.  What is the easiest way to root the Droid Razr Maxx now and where can I find some instructions?  Thanks for your help.

Thanks.  OK, I've rooted the phone.  Is there a way to delete or freeze the app without having to purchase the paid version of Titanium Backup?
