First time here so be gentle!

Ok, a buddy had his RAZR Maxx go into boot loop where it would make it past the eye and stay on long enough to rescue his contacts and pics before it would shut down and start again....and again and again! He tried a recovery which now stops him at the "select English" screen and will not stay on long enough connect the sim card.

Things i've tried:

External recovery

RSD Lite flash JB utility tool with 4.1.2 (Shows Complete but still restarts)

Recovery with full wipe and factory retore

Nothing is working and looking for any suggestions before using as a paper weight

If you've used RSD and flashed a full fxz, I would say you likely have a hardware issue. Battery would be my first guess. Now out could be as simple as a connecting cable that is not making good contact on the motherboard, but? Had out been dropped shortly before it started doing this?

Ressurecting this thread. My Droid Razr Maxx has been doing this exact thing.  The phone had not been dropped or anything of the sort.  The problem began with losing service.  My phone would lose 4G connection and then reconnect a few minutes later.  Then the restarting began.  Tried reloading with Option 1 of Matt's Droid Razr Utility and using the phones factory reset.  Everything seems to be working until you select the language.  It will say "preparing device may take a few minutes".  Within the next minute the phone will reboot and this will happen all day if you let it go.  What can be my next option?

Also what else would I need to show in order for someone to know what exactly is wrong with it.  And how do I go about getting the info. Thanks

Man, I've got a Razr doing the same thing. Tried everything, loading the utility, replacing the SD card, the SIM card, full wipe with utility, factory reset, pulling the battery leads off for several minutes, etc... It may work for 24 hours it may just start going into boot loop for no reason. I've ordered a battery for it (mine is about 3 years old), that is the last ditch effort, if it doesn't work I'm eyeballing a Galaxy IV.

Really, a Galaxy S IV?  I mean, unless it's totally free, you have much better devices to choose from than that.
