Motorola XT926 Locked on Boot Screen, Won't Power Off

XT926 Boot Issue

Best Answer SamuriHL , 01 October 2014 - 12:00 PM

It can't write to the phone. We've seen this issue before and there's zero way to fix it.  I hate to say that, but, this is a very ugly problem.  Sorry you went through all that for no solution, but, the phone is basically screwed up at the partition level.  And yours is not the only one like that.  No one's ever fixed one to my knowledge.

Alright Ubuntu (just noticed I been spelling it wrong the whole time) is installed. Going to install Java 7 now after the VM reboots.

Well I have Ubuntu setup and running even have Java 7 installed, but I'm having a hell of a time sharing folders so I can access the files and copy them into the virtual machine. Is there any easy way to do this. This guide I found is not very helpful, seems like its for a different version of the OS.

If it's like VMWare you should be able to drag them from windows and drop them into a file explorer in Ubuntu.  But I'm not familiar enough with virtualbox to know if that capability exists.

Read through the comments. Apparently you install Guest Additions and then set a shared folder and then it should work.

You can create a shared folder from the virtualbox settings window that can be accessed by both.  Drag and drop doesn't work out of the box for most.

No that didn't work either, oh man this crazy. It's just one problem right the other, fix one thing 5 more things pop (as example). How in the hell do you guys enjoy using Linux? I find this to be extremely difficult to work with, but I'm still searching on the internet for a comprehensive explanation of how to share folders in Virtual Box under Ubuntu. If I can just get to the files, maybe I can redownload them inside the VM. It will slow down the process but it's the only way I can see to get it done.

OK new post appeared, trying the ideas now. Yes I did install the guest additions, thankfully that was not to difficult. That screen shot is extremely helpful, thank you.

One more thing before I restart it. Do I need to enable USB 2.0 (EHCI) Controller. By default the Enable USB Controller is checked.

Damn it, after the transfer window disappears there is nothing there. Like it didn't copy anything. It has to be Ubuntu's extreme security measures. Is there a way to turn all that off inside Ubuntu?

Alright plan B, redownloading the packages from inside the VM, if that don't do it I don't anything will. Will take about 30 minutes, maybe less.

Has to be something in VB.... Ubuntu security settings are very lax as compared to windows.... Like Sam, I use VMware .... I know squat about VB... :(

Yeah I have a copy of VMware but I didn't like it, for reasons I won't go into. 16 minutes on the download of the firmware, the HOM app downloaded instantly and I can finally find it in the download folder. Once done, I'll go step by step using the guide I found here...

Just to verify, this is the correct guide for all operating systems? No need for the USB drivers I'm guessing.

That's the beauty of Linux, no drivers necessary for Android.
