QPST/DFS detect phone but can't read it (bricked?)

Best Answer livinginkaos , 07 October 2014 - 10:12 AM

If you can get into AP fastboot, I would try flashing the 183.46.10 version with Samuri's RSD flasher.  QPST is not for the meek.  It is very easy to mess a device up.

I bought a used XT926 off of Ebay last week. Great condition, everything worked.

I wanted to flash it to Page Plus, so I used

. The first errors were during step 2 (running Matt's utility to flash 4.1.2). While the utility was running it said "preflash validation failed" several times. The utility finished running though so I thought everything was fine.

Then on step 4, I checked the Baseband version in About Phone and it said "Unknown". I opened the Status menu (where the IMEI, etc. should be) and it was just a black screen. So, I guess I wiped all that data when the flash went wrong. I started over and did all the steps again, reinstalled the drivers, etc., but no success.

I figured out there's a way to restore the IMEI using QPST. But...QPST won't recognize the phone. When I plug in the phone in BP Mode, QPST finds the COM port right away, but it always says "No Phone". DFS also recognizes the COM port but just flashes "N/A" in all the data fields and does nothing when I try to read data from the phone.

In case it helps it's on 4.4.2 system version 183.46.10. I've tried to get a connection to the phone on both a Windows 7 64 bit and a Windows 7 32 bit computer. I tried multiple versions of QPST. Same result on everything.

So is it bricked? Am I totally screwed? Or am I just missing something simple and obvious?

Looks like to me you tried to downgrade...if you where on 4.4.2 you can not downgrade to 4.1.2....basically you tried going from Kitkat back to jelly bean and that will brick a phone.

Thanks Droidrzr for the continued support of my family and a special thank you to Kaos and Kelly....

Thanks for the answer. That's what I was afraid of. I guess I will sell it and be more careful with the next one!
