Hello,

I am a new member and would like to thank you all for the informative/interesting/helpful material you post.  Additionally, I would like to apologize for asking questions that may have already been discussed.  After a year or two of rooting/unlocking etc. my phone(s), I remain perplexed on much of the subject.  Forgive me I am a newb.

I currently own a Droid Razr HD which I recently successfully rooted using Saferoot.  I put off the original KitKat update in avoidance of all the bugs (still running 4.1.2).  My system version is 9.30.1.XT926.  I have a few questions if someone would be so kind to answer.  I would like to be able to unlock my bootloader, flash a new rom and have a bit of fun like I did on my old droid.

1.) After searching the web (days/hours) for others with the same sys version, I don't find anything with my exact version.  When rooting/unlocking/flashing etc and someone has a TUT with same phone and "XT926" does the first three digits matter if they are different?  What do these numbers mean?

2.) After reading countless forums, I see that someone running 4.1.2 can not unlock the bootloader anymore.  Is this correct?

if yes:

2.a.) Should I bite the bullet, take the (183.46.10) 4.4.2 KitKat update and hope to be able to unlock after that?

if not:

2.b.) Can you please inform me of how to unlock my bootloader?  I tried the "motopocalypse" method which ran fine but on my phone it says "phone is locked. Source code 0".  Using up to date SuperSu and figure the fail is because I am SOL with this phone/version.

Thank you all very much for your cooperation and replies.  Any instruction in laymen terms would be greatly appreciated.

Let me get this straight... You have rooted your device without unlocking the bootloader first? Well you already bit the bullet my friend. Ow and since I'm also new here... Let me ask you guys is this forum dedicated to droid razr owners?

Yes, you'll have to update to the KK version ending with .10 to unlock.  You won't be able to unlock the current version you're on.
