If your're getting bootloops and black screens than there is a bigger problem. Which version of SS are you use? Do you always wipe everything before you flash? Maybe you need to FXZ your phone. There could be something corrupted. I understand your not a noob, but your experience with safestrap isn't a typical one, so obviously you have some kind of unique problem. And when a dev said, this rom only works with SS and you install with boot manager and have problems who is to blame? Simplex works just fine on my phone. And so does Safestrap. There must be SOMETHING that you're missing. What are your install steps from the moment you turn your phone on stock-rooted with no recovery installed to when you boot up a rom?

EDIT: THANKS FOR HELPING ME OUT
I've used 2.0, 2.1, 2.10 and 2.11 versions of SS.
Steps are below

1. Install SS
2. Install recovery
3. Reboot - use menu to get to recovery.
4. Backup of non-safe side
5. switch to safe side
6. wipe everything (data, cache, mount system & format it, dalvik)
7. Flash ROM
8. Reboot

I follow Hash's instructions here ->

I am rooting 4 Razrs they are all brand new never before rooted or anything. Fresh roots and straight to SS.

Sounds like u need to fastboot back too 211 with matts 1.81 utility then flash to 215. Then get SS 2.11 and try again. U also may wish to download all the above again and check md5 sums....seems like mos oddball problems are bad downloads of something critical.

just a warning, i installed on my safe side while i was on a non kexec rom, this was unable to boot my original stock side, i didnt take it as too much of an issue as i had previous backups of BW on my safe side, it failed restoring every backup i had and i ended up having to fast boot back to stock 211 today and reinstall on my non safe side, since then, i've had no issues restoring my BW backup that failed before

I root with matt's utility. Can I install SS211 by just opening the apk and installing it like that? I'm kinda confused on how to install it. Matt's utility is easy to get SS2.0 use the utility then just click on the app and install it that way.

thankmelater, yes, run the apk, then install the recovery (if you had SS installed b4, delete the old recovery, & install the 211 recovery.)

Then, just be sure to back up your stock side, & then enable the safe side.

If you had bootstrap recovery installed previously, be sure to remove all tracese of it; or you will brick your phone.

Search in the forums for instructions to remove bootstrap, if you had it installed!

Enjoy, the two regoveries are very similar in terms of menus & functionality - but SS is better!

Good luck! SpyderMan

After you install it , every time you reboot your phone you'll be given an option to enter safestrap or proceed to your regular boot up, so don't panic if you get a screen asking you what to do after you install.

So just to be 100 % so I don't make a mistake and brick my phone or something here is what I got.

Right now I am on stock 211 (no root).

I root with Matt's utility.

Do NOT install safe strap 2.0 from Matt's utility but instead just have the apk of safe strap 2.11 on my external SD card and open the apk and install it this way?

Reboot phone, go into the recovery by hitting menu, and follow the same steps I would if I was installing safe strap 2.0?

TML, yes across the board.

Just to cover future contingencies, install SS211 on the non-safe side, after installing recovery & making a backup of non-safe side - which is now called safestrap enabled or disabled.

Remember, all the flashing of themes mods & roms is & can only be done on the safe side, when it boots & *ells you that S is enabled…

Good luck! SpyderMan

just so I'm sure what to do next..... if I want to go back to stock rooted, which was my backup file, can I just restore that backup then reboot? Also, if I wanted to back to not using SS, do I just disable it?

I am curious. If I load the recovery and stay on unsafe side, does it "replace" stock recovery? In other words, could I use it too clear dalvic cache or fix permissions?
