Hi guys,

This weekend I retired my Droid X2 which was running Cyanogenmod 10 (awesome but VERY unstable). I picked up a brand new Droid Razr Maxx HD from Verizon. I've read through (and searched through) the epic

.  However, I'm still having a problem rooting my Razr Maxx HD. Here's what I see in the "about phone" screen:

When I run the motochopper utility, I get a "failure" message in the "Rooting phone" phase. There's a split second delay between "Rooting phone" and the "Failure" message.

When the phone reboots, I do have a Superuser icon. When I tap on it, I get a message saying that the Superuser binary must be updated. However, when I hit Install or Recovery Install, I get the same error:

There was an error installing Superuser. Please send a log of the error to the developer.

Any ideas what I'm doing wrong?

Do I have to flash back to an earlier version of Android? If so, how do I do this? Can I use RSD Lite like I would on my Droid X2, or is there a different set of utilities?

That HD is on the most current update. There is no root or boot loader unlock for it.

Nuts, I was worried that was the case. :( What are my options?

Since I only purchased the phone yesterday, should I return it and exchange it for one and not do the OTA update? Or, with djrbliss retiring from Motorola rooting, is there any hope for an exploit?

I would not count on an exploit. Root and boot loader unlock MUST be applied before the update.

Exchange while you can. Root might happen but not another boot loader unlock.

@trax - I have exactly the same issue, identical.

Any solutions? or exchange for another phone at this point?

You can try my automated method for doing a downgrade to MR2, root, protect root, update back to the OTA, and restore root.
